- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect the fuel pump and sender electrical connector.
Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals 4 and 5 of the sender. The resistance should be 0.2-3.0 ohms at 20 degrees C (68 F). If not as specified, replace the pump assembly.
NOTEDo these tests within 10 seconds to prevent the coil from burning out. Keep the pump as far away from the battery as possible and always do the switching at the batter side.
Connect battery voltage to terminal 4 of the connector and a ground connection to terminal 5 of the connector. The fuel pump should operate. If not replace the pump.
