Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Battery
     
    Battery tray
     

  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the cruise control actuator, if equipped, as follows:

    Actuator connector and clamp
     
    3 bolts and the actuator with the bracket
     

  6.  
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Automatic transaxle shift control cable
     
    Engine wiring
     
    Starter electrical connectors
     
    Both bolts, shift control cable clamp and the starter
     

  8.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Starter and the shift control cable clamp. Tighten the bolts to 27 ft. lbs. (37 Nm).
     
    Starter electrical connectors
     
    Engine wiring
     
    Automatic transaxle shift control cable
     

  2.  
  3. Install or connect the following, if equipped with cruise control:

    3 bolts and the actuator with the bracket
     
    Actuator connector and clamp
     

  4.  
  5. Install or connect the following:

    Battery tray
     
    Battery
     

  6.  

3.0L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Battery
     
    Battery tray
     

  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the cruise control actuator, if equipped, as follows:

    Actuator connector and clamp
     
    3 bolts and the actuator with the bracket
     

  6.  
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Automatic transaxle shift control cable
     
    Engine wiring
     
    Starter electrical connectors
     
    Both bolts, shift control cable clamp and the starter
     

  8.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Starter and the shift control cable clamp. Tighten the bolts to 27 ft. lbs. (37 Nm).
     
    Starter electrical connectors
     
    Engine wiring
     
    Automatic transaxle shift control cable
     

  2.  
  3. Install or connect the following, if equipped with cruise control:

    3 bolts and the actuator with the bracket
     
    Actuator connector and clamp
     

  4.  
  5. Install or connect the following:

    Battery tray
     
    Battery
     

  6.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.

  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Battery
     
    Battery tray
     

  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the cruise control actuator, if equipped, as follows:

    Actuator connector and clamp
     
    3 bolts and the actuator with the bracket
     

  6.  
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Automatic transaxle shift control cable
     
    Engine wiring
     
    Starter electrical connectors
     
    Both bolts, shift control cable clamp and the starter
     

  8.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Starter and the shift control cable clamp. Tighten the bolts to 27 ft. lbs. (37 Nm).
     
    Starter electrical connectors
     
    Engine wiring
     
    Automatic transaxle shift control cable
     

  2.  
  3. Install or connect the following, if equipped with cruise control:

    3 bolts and the actuator with the bracket
     
    Actuator connector and clamp
     

  4.  
  5. Install or connect the following:

    Battery tray
     
    Battery
     

  6.  

3.3L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly and inlet tubes.
  4.  
  5. Remove the air cleaner bracket.
  6.  
  7. Remove the wiring from the starter.
  8.  
  9. Remove the 2 bolts and lower the starter.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the starter bolts to 26 ft. lbs. (37 Nm).

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the battery and tray.
  4.  
  5. Remove the air cleaner assembly and inlet tubes.
  6.  
  7. Remove the air cleaner bracket.
  8.  
  9. Remove the wiring from the starter.
  10.  
  11. Remove the 2 bolts and lower the starter.
  12.  
  13. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the starter bolts to 26 ft. lbs. (37 Nm).
