CAUTION
On models equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) or "air bag,'' work must NOT be started until at least 90 seconds have passed from the time that both the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative cable is disconnected from the battery.

In certain areas it may be illegal to service air conditioning components unless you are certified, consult with your local authorities.

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Please refer to Routine Maintenance .
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the cooling unit.
  6.  
  7. Remove the evaporator.
  8.  
  9. Remove the pressure switch from the refrigerant line. On some models, it is necessary to replace to refrigerant line as the switch itself is not removable.
  10.  

To install:
  1. Install the pressure switch and torque to 10 ft. lbs. (13 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the evaporator in the cooling unit.
  4.  
  5. Install the cooling unit.
  6.  
  7. Evacuate, charge and leak test the system.
  8.
