REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

CAUTION
On models equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) or "air bag,'' work must NOT be started until at least 90 seconds have passed from the time that both the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative cable is disconnected from the battery.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bolt securing the power steering hose (if equipped).
  4.  
  5. Remove the bolt securing the brake lines to the shock tower.
  6.  
  7. Unplug the electrical connections.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the brake lines from the actuator using a line or flare nut wrench.
  10.  
  11. Remove the bolts securing the actuator bracket to the body, then remove the assembly from the vehicle.
  12.  
  13. Separate the actuator from the bracket assembly, if necessary.
  14.  

To install:
  1. Install the actuator assembly to the vehicle. Tighten the side bracket bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm) and the front bracket bolt to 9 ft. lbs. (13 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Thread the brake line fittings into the actuator. Tighten them to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Engage the electrical connectors.
  6.  
  7. Install the bolts securing the brake lines and power steering hose.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable, then bleed the brake system.
  10.  
  11. Inspect for leaks, then check for proper ABS warning light operation.
  12.
