TESTING



Motor Relay

See Figures 1 and 2

  1. Inspect the continuity of the relay as follows:
    1. Unplug the electrical connector.
    2.  
    3. Check that there is continuity between terminals 9 and 10 of the relay.
    4.  
    5. Check that there is no continuity between terminals 7 and 8 of the relay.
    6.  
    7. Replace the relay if not as specified.
    8.

  1. Inspect the operation of the motor relay as follows:
    1. Using jumper wires, connect the positive lead from the battery to terminal 10 and negative lead to terminal 9 of the relay.
    2.  
    3. Check that there is continuity between terminals 7 and 8 of the relay.
    4.  
    5. Replace the relay if operation is not as specified.
    6.

  3. Engage the electrical connector.

Solenoid Relay

See Figures 3 and 4

  1. Inspect the continuity of the relay as follows:
    1. Unplug the electrical connector.
    2.  
    3. Check that there is continuity between terminals 1 and 9 of the relay.
    4.  
    5. Check that there is no continuity between terminals 2 and 5 of the relay.
    6.  
    7. Replace the relay if not as specified.
    8.

  1. Inspect the operation of the motor relay as follows:
    1. Using jumper wires, connect the positive lead from the battery to terminal 1 and negative lead to terminal 9 of the relay.

    3. Check that there is continuity between terminals 2 and 5 of the relay.
    4.  
    5. Check that there is no continuity between terminals 2 and 6 of the relay.
    6.  
    7. Replace the relay if operation is not as specified.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



See Figure 5

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Unplug the electrical connections from the control relays.
  4.  
  5. Remove the control relay assembly from the actuator bracket. Replace the appropriate relay, if necessary.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Install the control relay assembly to the actuator bracket.
  2.  
  3. Engage the electrical connection.
  4.  
  5. Check for proper ABS warning light operation.
  6.
