REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

See Figures 1 and 2

CAUTION
On models equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) or "air bag,'' work must NOT be started until at least 90 seconds have passed from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative cable is disconnected from the battery.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.
  3. Remove the accessory belts.
  4.
  5. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt.
  6.

CAUTION
To avoid personal injury, wear gloves to avoid getting cut on the radiator fins. Wear eye protection.

This bolt can be very difficult to get off. Spray the bolt with penetrating oil and allow it to soak in overnight. Using air powered tools may make the job easier, but the radiator and possibly other components may have to be removed for clearance.

  1. Using a suitable puller, remove the pulley and set key.
  2.
  3. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the bolt to specification.
  4.
