Hatch or Trunk Lid

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

CAUTION
On models equipped with an air bag (SRS), work must NOT be started until at least 90 seconds have passed from the time that both the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative cable is disconnected from the battery.

Trunk Lid
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. If necessary, disconnect the wire harness from the trunk lid.
  4.  
  5. Matchmark the position of the trunk lid to the hinges.
  6.  
  7. Have an assistant hold the trunk lid, then remove the bolts securing the trunk lid to the hinges.
  8.  
  9. Carefully remove the trunk lid from the vehicle.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of removal. Adjust as necessary.

Hatch Lid
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. If necessary, disconnect the wire harness from the hatch lid.
  4.  
  5. Matchmark the position of the hinges on the hatch.
  6.  
  7. Have an assistant hold the hatch, then disconnect the lift cylinder.
  8.  
  9. Remove the hinge bolts, then carefully remove the lid.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of removal. Adjust as necessary.
  12.  

ADJUSTMENT



See Figure 3

  1. For forward/rearward and left/right adjustments, loosen the bolts then move the hood the desired position.
  2.  
  3. For vertical adjustment of the of the lid, increase or decrease the number of shims or washers on the hinges.
  4.  
  5. Adjust the lock or striker by loosening the bolts, then repositioning.
  6.
