Control Cables

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



See Figure 1

  1. Remove the control panel.
  2.  
  3. Disengage the adjusting clip at the heater/cooling unit end of the cable.
  4.  
  5. Disengage the end of the control cable from the control lever.
  6.  
  7. Remove the cable from the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal. Adjust the cable.
  10.

ADJUSTMENT



Air Inlet Door

See Figures 2 and 3

  1. Disengage the control cable from the lever at the heater/cooling unit end of the cable.
  2.  
  3. On all 1984-1990 models and 1991-1994 right hand drive models, set both the air inlet door and the control panel to the FRESH position. Then, slide the control cable through the adjusting clip until the eyelet on the cable end can be engaged to the lever.
  4.  
  5. On 1991-1994 left hand drive models, set both the air inlet door and the control panel to the RECIRC position. Then, slide the control cable through the adjusting clip until the eyelet on the cable end can be engaged to the lever.
  6.

Mode Selector Door

See Figures 4 and 5

  1. Disengage the control cable from the lever at the heater/cooling unit end of the cable.
  2.  
  3. Set both the mode selector door and the control panel to the FACE position. Then, slide the control cable through the adjusting clip until the eyelet on the cable end can be engaged to the lever.

Air Mix Door

See Figures 6 and 7

  1. Disengage the control cable from the lever at the heater/cooling unit end of the cable.
  2.  
  3. Set both the air mix door and the control panel to the COOL position. Then, slide the control cable through the adjusting clip until the eyelet on the cable end can be engaged to the lever.

Water Control Valve

See Figure 8

  1. Disengage the adjusting clip.
  2.  
  3. Place the water valve lever on the COOL position while pushing the outer cable in the COOL direction. Clamp the outer cable to the water valve bracket with the adjusting clip.
