REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Wagons and 1984-1986 Sedans

See Figures 1, 2 and 3

REAR DOOR GLASS
  1. Lower the window and remove the door trim.
  2.  
  3. Remove the screw securing the division bar to the door under the weatherstrip. Remove the two lower attaching bolts.
  4.  
  5. Pull the glass run out from the division bar, then remove the bar from the window.
  6.

  1. Remove the glass from the door by pulling it forward.
  2.  
  3. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  4.  

QUARTER WINDOW GLASS-SWING TYPE
  1. Remove the screws securing the window lock and hinge plates.
  2.  
  3. Carefully remove the window from the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  6.  

QUARTER WINDOW GLASS-FIXED TYPE

See Figures 4 and 5

  1. Remove the rear quarter trim panels surrounding the window.
  2.  
  3. If reusing the weatherstrip around the window:
    1. Using a small prybar, loosen the weatherstrip lip from the body. Tape the tip of the tool to prevent damage to the body finish.
    2.  
    3. Force the weatherstrip lip from the interior to the body flange outside. Pull the glass outwards and remove it with the weatherstrip.
    4.

  5. If not reusing the weatherstrip:
    1. From the outside, cut off the weatherstrip lip with a knife.
    2.  
    3. Push the glass outwards and remove the glass.
    4.  
    5. Remove the weatherstrip from the body.
    6.

To install:
  1. Attach the weatherstrip to the glass. Apply a cord along the weatherstrip groove.
  2.  
  3. Apply soapy water to the contact face of the weatherstrip lip and to the body flange.

  1. Have an assistant hold the glass in position on the body. Begin installation in the middle of the lower part of the window. Pull the cord from the interior while pushing the outside of the weatherstrip with your open hand.
  2.  
  3. To snug the glass in place, tap the outside of the window with your open hand.
  4.  
  5. Place masking tape around the weatherstrip to protect the paint and glass. Apply glass sealer between the weatherstrip and body. When the sealer is dry, remove the masking tape.
  6.  
  7. Install the interior trim panels removed earlier.
  8.  

REAR WINDOW

See Figures 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12

  1. Remove the trim panels surrounding the window.
  2.  
  3. If applicable, remove the high-mount brake light and unplug the rear window defroster connector.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear wiper arm, if equipped.
  6.

  1. If reusing the weatherstrip around the window:

  1. If not reusing the weatherstrip:
    1. From the outside, cut off the weatherstrip lip with a knife.

  1. To snug the glass in place, tap the outside of the window with your open hand.
  2.  
  3. Place masking tape around the weatherstrip to protect the paint and glass. Apply glass sealer between the weatherstrip and body. When the sealer is dry, remove the masking tape.
  4.  
  5. Install the interior trim panels, brake light and wiper arm removed earlier.
  6.  

1987-1990 Sedans
REAR DOOR GLASS
  1. Lower the window and remove the door trim.
  2.  
  3. Remove the screw securing the division bar to the door under the weatherstrip. Remove the two lower attaching bolts.
  4.  
  5. Pull the glass run out from the division bar, then remove the bar from the window.
  6.  
  7. Remove the glass from the door by pulling it forward.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  10.  

QUARTER WINDOW GLASS
  1. Remove the trim panel surrounding the window.
  2.  
  3. From inside the vehicle, remove the nuts securing the ventilation louver, then pull the louver from its retaining clips.
  4.  
  5. Remove the nuts/screws securing the window. Using a knife, cut the adhesive from the window.
  6.  
  7. Carefully remove the glass from the body.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Clean the window and body contact areas with alcohol.
  2.  
  3. Coat the contact surface of the glass with an adhesive primer. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.
  4.  
  5. Apply the adhesive seal to the glass, slightly overlapping it at the bottom of the window.
  6.  
  7. Position the glass on the body, then install the retaining screws/nuts.
  8.  
  9. Install the ventilation louver with its retaining nuts.
  10.  
  11. Install the interior trim removed earlier.
  12.  

REAR WINDOW
  1. Remove the trim panels surrounding the window.
  2.

  7. Remove the glass from the door by pulling it forward.
