REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



Front Turn Signals

See Figure 1

On 1991-1994 models, the front turn signals are also the front marker and parking lights.

  1. Remove the lens attaching screws, then remove the lens. On 1991-1994 models open the hood to access the attaching screw.
  2.  
  3. Single-end bulbs are removed by first pressing in, then turning counterclockwise. On double-end (wedge base) bulbs, pull the bulb straight out of its socket.
  4.  
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check turn signal light operation.
  6.

Side Marker Lights (Parking Lights)

FRONT

On 1991-1994 models, the front turn signals are also the front marker and parking lights.

  1. Remove the lens retaining screw(s). On 1991-1994 models open the hood to access the attaching screw.

  3. Single-end bulbs are removed by first pressing in, then turning counterclockwise. On double-end (wedge base) bulbs, pull the bulb straight out of its socket.
  4.  
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check for proper light operation.
  6.

REAR

On 1991-1994 models, follow the procedure for rear turn signal, brake and parking lights.

  1. Remove the lens retaining screw(s).
  2.  
  3. Single-end bulbs are removed by first pressing in, then turning counterclockwise. On double-end (wedge base) bulbs, pull the bulb straight out of its socket.
  4.  
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check for proper light operation.
  6.

Rear Turn Signal, Brake and Parking Lights

1984-1986 SEDANS, ALL WAGONS
  1. Remove the light access panel from inside the hatch area.
  2.  
  3. Remove the bulb/socket assembly from the lens.
  4.  
  5. Single-end bulbs are removed by first pressing in, then turning counterclockwise. On double-end (wedge base) bulbs, pull the bulb straight out of its socket.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check for proper light operation.
  8.

1987-1994 SEDANS

See Figures 10 and 11

  1. Raise the trunk lid, then remove the lens attaching screws/nuts.
  2.  
  3. Carefully pull the lens from the body far enough to allow you to disconnect the appropriate bulb/socket from the assembly.
  4.  
  5. Single-end bulbs are removed by first pressing in, then turning counterclockwise. On double-end (wedge base) bulbs, pull the bulb straight out of its socket.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check for proper light operation.
  8.

High-Mount Brake Light

See Figure 12

  1. Remove the high-mount brake light plastic housing. The push-pin clips can be removed by first pushing in the center pin with a small punch, then pulling the clip from the housing. Be careful not to damage the clip or housing.
  2.  
  3. Once the housing is removed, replace the bulb. Single-end bulbs are removed by first pressing in, then turning counterclockwise. On double-end (wedge base) bulbs, pull the bulb straight out of its socket.
  4.  
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check for proper light operation.
  6.

Dome Light

See Figure 13

  1. Carefully pry the dome light lens from the housing.
  2.  
  3. Release the bulb from the housing.
  4.  
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check for proper bulb operation.

Cargo and Passenger Area Lamps

See Figure 14

  1. Remove the lens housing retaining screw(s).
  2.  
  3. Release the bulb from the housing.
  4.  
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check for proper bulb operation.

License Plate Lights
1984-1986 SEDANS

See Figures 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19

  1. It will be necessary to remove the hatch-lid trim panel first. This is usually secured by a series of screws and pull clips.
  2.  
  3. Remove the lamp assembly attaching nuts/bolts.
  4.  
  5. Unplug the electrical connector, then withdraw the lamp assembly from the hatch lid.
  6.  
  7. Separate the rear cover from the lens assembly. Remove the bulb/socket assembly attaching screw(s), then remove it from the lens assembly.
  8.  
  9. Remove the bulb from its socket.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check for proper bulb operation.
  12.

WAGONS

  1. Remove the lens attaching screws/nuts, then remove the lens.
  2.  
  3. Single-end bulbs are removed by first pressing in, then turning counterclockwise. On double-end (wedge base) bulbs, pull the bulb straight out of its socket.
  4.  
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Check for proper light operation.
  6.

1987-1990 SEDANS

On 1987-1990 sedans, follow the rear turn signal, brake and parking light procedure, then replace the appropriate bulb.

1991-1994 MODELS

See Figure 21

  1. Carefully push the lens assembly to the side, then pull down. Remove the bulb by pulling it from its socket
  2.  
  3. Gently press the retaining clips in, then push the lens assembly in to its mounting hole.
  4.  
  5. Check for proper bulb operation.
  6.
