Back-up Light Switch

This light switch is mounted on the manual transaxle housing. Its removal and replacement is accomplished by unplugging the wiring connector from the switch, then unscrewing the switch from the case (always replace the mounting gasket below it). A special socket with a slit cut in the side of it (for the wiring to feed through) is necessary for this service operation.

Install the new switch and torque to 19 ft. lbs. (25 Nm) for Z-series transaxles and 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm) for C-series transaxles. Engage the electrical connector. Turn the ignition key to the ON position, then depress clutch pedal and place shifter in the Reverse position. Check the operation of the back-up lights.
