REPLACEMENT



Front Wheels

See Figures 1 and 2

  1. Remove the front wheel.
  2.  
  3. Remove the brake caliper and disc. Refer to the procedures outlined in this repair guide.
  4.  
  5. Turn the hub so that the broken stud is in the area of the open portion of the disc brake dust cover.
  6.  
  7. Using SST 09628-10011 or its equivalent, remove the stud.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Insert the new stud into the hole in the hub flange. Align the splines on the stud with the grooves in the hole.
  2.  
  3. Install a washer, then thread a lug nut onto the stud. Tighten the nut until the stud is pulled fully into the hub flange.
  4.  
  5. Install the brake disc and caliper.
  6.  
  7. Install the wheel.
  8.

Rear Wheels

See Figure 3

SEDANS
  1. Remove the rear drum/hub assembly. Refer to the procedures in this repair guide.
  2.  
  3. Using a press, remove the wheel stud.
  4.  

To install:
  1. Align the splines on the stud with the grooves in the hub, then press the stud into the hub.
  2.  
  3. Install the rear drum/hub assembly.
  4.

WAGONS
  1. Remove the rear drum assembly. Refer to the procedures in this repair guide.
  2.  
  3. On some applications, you may be able to press the stud from the hub using SST 09628-10011 or its equivalent. Check that the necessary clearance exists. If the clearance is not adequate, remove the axle shaft as described in this repair guide, then position the shaft on a press and carefully remove the stud.
  4.  

To install:
  1. Insert the new stud into the hole in the hub flange. Align the splines on the stud with the grooves in the hole.
  2.  
  3. Install a washer, then thread a lug nut onto the stud. Tighten the nut until the stud is pulled fully into the hub flange.
  4.  
  5. Install the axle shaft, as necessary.
  6.  
  7. Install the rear drum assembly.
  8.
