Bleeding The Hydraulic System



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Fill the master cylinder reservoir to the MAX line with new fluid. Use Hydraulic Clutch Fluid (GM P/N 12345347) (Canadian P/N 10953517) or equivalent and keep it at least half full throughout the bleeding procedure.
  4.  
  5. Depress the clutch pedal (hold the pedal down).
  6.  
  7. Open the bleed screw on the clutch actuator cylinder in order to expel the air.
    NOTE
    Ensure no air is drawn into the clutch system.

  9. Close the bleed screw then release the clutch pedal.
  10.  
  11. Repeat steps 2, 3, and 4 until all the air is out of the clutch system.
  12.  
  13. Check and refill the reservoir as needed while bleeding.
  14.  
  15. After bleeding, pump the clutch pedal several times. If the clutch engagement is not satisfactory, repeat the bleeding procedure.
