1.6L Engine



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the ECT sensor.

To install:

  1. Install the ECT sensor and tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
  4.  
  5. Fill the cooling system.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.  

2.0L Engines



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Remove the ECT sensor electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the ECT sensor from the coolant housing.

To install:

  1. Install ECT sensor to the coolant housing and tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
  4.  
  5. Fill the cooling system.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.  

2.5L Engines



  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. Remove the ECT sensor from the coolant passage.

To install:

  1. Install ECT sensor to the coolant passage and tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
  4.  
  5. Fill the cooling system.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.
