Oil Pan

Removal & Installation



1.6L Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Front skidplate, if equipped
     
    Front differential, if equipped
     
    Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor
     
    Left transmission stiffener bracket, if equipped
     
    Flywheel access panel
     
    Oil pan and oil pump pickup tube
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Apply a bead of silicone sealant to the oil pan flange.
  2.  
  3. Install or connect the following:

    New oil pump pickup tube O-ring seal
     
    Oil pan and oil pump pickup tube. Tighten the fasteners to 97 inch lbs. (11 Nm).
     
    Flywheel access panel
     
    Left transmission stiffener bracket, if equipped
     
    CKP sensor
     
    Front differential, if equipped
     
    Front skidplate, if equipped. Tighten the bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (55 Nm).
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  4.  
  5. Fill the crankcase to the correct level.
  6.  
  7. Start the engine and check for leaks.

2.0L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Oil dipstick tube
     
    Front wheels
     
    Front skidplate, if equipped
     
    Steering gear
     
    Front differential, if equipped
     
    Left transmission stiffener bracket, if equipped
     
    Flywheel access panel
     
    Exhaust front pipe
     
    Left and right motor mounts and raise the engine about 1 inch (25mm) for clearance
     
    Oil pan and oil pump pickup tube
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Apply a bead of silicone sealant to the oil pan flange. Install new oil pump pickup tube O-ring seals.
  2.  
  3. Install or connect the following:

    Oil pan and oil pump pickup tube. Tighten the fasteners to 97 inch lbs. (11 Nm).
     
    Left and right engine mounts. Tighten the nuts to 36 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
     
    Exhaust front pipe
     
    Flywheel access panel
     
    Left transmission stiffener bracket, if equipped
     
    Front differential, if equipped
     
    Steering gear
     
    Front skidplate, if equipped
     
    Front wheels
     
    Oil dipstick tube
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  4.  
  5. Fill the crankcase to the correct level.
  6.  
  7. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  8.  

2.5L Engines
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Oil dipstick tube
     
    Front wheels
     
    Front skidplate, if equipped
     
    Steering gear
     
    Front differential, if equipped
     
    Lower oil pan
     
    Oil pickup tube bracket
     
    Radiator outlet pipe
     
    Upper oil pan and oil pickup tube
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Install a new O-ring to the lower crankcase.
  2.  
  3. Apply a bead of silicone sealant to the upper oil pan flange.
  4.  
  5. Install or connect the following:

    New oil pump pickup tube O-ring seals
     
    Upper oil pan and oil pump pickup tube and tighten the fasteners as shown
     
    Radiator outlet pipe
     
    Oil pickup tube bracket
     
    Lower oil pan. Tighten the bolts to 97 inch lbs. (11 Nm).
     
    Front differential, if equipped
     
    Steering gear
     
    Front skidplate, if equipped
     
    Front wheels
     
    Oil dipstick tube
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  6.  
  7. Fill the crankcase to the correct level.
  8.  
  9. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  10.
