  1. Press the brake pedal 3 times with 30 kg (66 lbs) of force using Brake Pedal Effort Gage tool J 28662.
  2.  
  3. Pull the park brake lever several times with approximately 20 kg (40 lbs) of force.
  4.  
  5. Release the park brake.
  6.  
  7. Remove the 4 screws, the 2 clips, and lift up the center console.
  8.  
  9. Inspect the park brake lever notches. If the notches are damaged or worn, replace the park brake lever.
  10.  
  11. If the vehicle has an automatic transmission, disconnect the power normal switch connector.
  12.  
  13. If the vehicle has an auxiliary power outlet, disconnect the auxiliary power outlet connector.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the park brake switch connector.

  17. Loosen or tighten the park brake cable lock nut in order to adjust the park brake lever travel.
  18.  
  19. Inspect the park brake lever travel. Refer to the Inspection Procedure above.
  20.  
  21. If the park brake lever travel is not in the specification, adjust the drum brakes.
  22.  
  23. If a park brake cable is damaged, replace the park brake cable.
  24.  
  25. Connect the park brake switch connector.
  26.  
  27. Position the center console over the shift knob.
  28.  
  29. If the vehicle has an auxiliary power outlet, connect the auxiliary power outlet connector.
  30.  
  31. If the vehicle has an automatic transmission, connect the power normal switch connector.
  32.  
  33. Install the center console. Install the 4 screws and the 2 clips.
