Lower Control Arms

Removal & Installation



  1. Raise and safely support the rear of the vehicle securely on jackstands.
  2.  
  3. Use a floor jack in order to support the rear axle housing.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front bolt and the washer from the lower control arm.
  6.  
  7. Remove the following components from the rear axle housing:
    1. The nut 
    2.  
    3. The washer
    4.  
    5. The bolt
    6.  
    7. The lower control arm

To install:


WARNING
DO NOT tighten the lower control arm nuts and bolts completely. The weight of the vehicle must be on the wheels and tires before tightening the nuts and bolts.

  1. Install the following components to the rear axle housing:
    1. The lower control arm 
    2.  
    3. The bolt
    4.  
    5. The washer
    6.  
    7. The nut 
    8.  

  2.  
  3. Install the following components to the frame:
    1. The lower control arm 
    2.  
    3. The bolt 
    4.  
    5. The washer
    6.  

  4.  
  5. Remove the floor jack from the rear axle housing.
  6.  
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. With the weight of the vehicle on the tires and wheels, tighten the lower control arm nuts and bolts to 65 ft. lbs. (90 Nm).
