Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front wheel and tire from the front hub.
    WARNING
    Be careful not to damage the hub bolts.

  6.  
  7. Remove the split pin (A), then remove castle nut (B), and washer (C) from the front hub while applying the brake.

  9. Remove the caliper mounting bolts (A), and hang the caliper assembly (B) to one side.
    WARNING
    To prevent damage to the caliper assembly or brake hose, use a short piece of wire to hang the caliper from the undercarriage.

  11. Remove the brake rotor.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    The brake rotor
     
    The brake caliper and caliper bolts. Tighten bolts to: 58-73 ft. lbs. (80-100 Nm)
     
    The guide rod bolts and tighten to: 16-23 ft. lbs. (22-31 Nm)
     
    Washer, castle nut, and split pin. Tighten castle nut to: 145-203 ft. lbs. (196-275 Nm)
     
    Front wheel and tire
     

  2.  
  3. Pump the brake pedal until the brake pads are seated and a firm pedal is achieved before attempting to move the vehicle.
    CAUTION
    Do not move the vehicle until a firm pedal is obtained.

  5. Road test the vehicle to check for proper brake operation.
