Disassembly & Assembly



Specific to:

Hyundai Tucson 2006-2008

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the strut from the vehicle and attach Service Tool 09546-2600 or another suitable spring compressor.
  4.  
  5. Compress the coil spring.
  6.  
  7. Remove the self-locking nut from the strut.
  8.  
  9. Remove the insulator, spring seat, coil spring, and dust cover.
  10.  
  11. Inspect the insulator for wear and damage, replace as required.
  12.  
  13. Check the rubber parts for damage or deterioration, replace as required.

To reassemble:

  1. Install the spring lower pad so that the protrusions fit the holes in the spring lower seat.
  2.  
  3. Compress the spring, using the spring compressor tool.
  4.  
  5. Install the compressed spring over the shock absorber.
    NOTE
    There are 2 color identification marks on the coil spring, one indicates model option and the other indicates load classification. Install the coil spring with the identification mark directed toward the steering knuckle.

  6.  
  7. After fully extending the piston rod, install the spring upper seat and insulator assembly.
  8.  
  9. After correctly seating the upper and lower ends of the coil spring in the upper and lower spring grooves, tighten the NEW self-locking nut temporarily.
  10.  
  11. Remove the spring compression tool. Tighten the self-locking nut to 43-51 ft. lbs. (60-70 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Install the strut to the vehicle.
  14.  
  15. Check the wheel alignment and adjust as necessary.
  16.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Rear wheel
     
    Speed sensor
     
    Stabilizer bar control link mounting nut
     
    Upper strut mounting nuts
     
    Lower strut mounting bolts
     
    Strut assembly

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Strut assembly and tighten the lower mounting bolts to 103-118 ft. lbs. (140-160 Nm)
     
    Upper strut mounting bolts. Tighten to 22-30 ft. lbs. (30-40 Nm)
     
    Stabilizer bar link mounting nut. Tighten to 74-89 ft. lbs. (100-120 Nm)
     
    Speed sensor. Tighten the mounting bolt to 60-96 inch lbs. (7-11 Nm).
     
    Rear wheel. Tighten the lug nuts to 66-81 ft. lbs. (90-110 Nm).

  3. Check the alignment and adjust as necessary.
  4.
