REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

FRONT SEATS

NOTE
For removal procedures, follow the illustrations provided.

To install:

Installation is in reverse order of removal.

Fig. Front backrest (headrest removed): remove seat, then remove the backrest. Separate the beading strip of the cover with screwdriver (arrows)

FRONT SEAT BACKREST
  1. Remove adjustment knob (8).
  2.  
  3. Press the 4 expanding pins (10) of the adjustment lever (9) inward and remove the adjustment lever.
  4.  
  5. Remove the trim (2).
  6.  
  7. Remove the screw (11).
  8.  
  9. Remove the left trim (7).
  10.  
  11. Remove the screws on both sides of the seat and remove backrest (4).
  12.  

To install:

  1. Installation is in reverse order of removal.
  2.  

Audi A4
FRONT MANUAL SEATS

WARNING
Before starting work on seats, connect VAS5094 airbag adapter.


NOTE
Slight changes may have to be made to the removal and installation procedures, depending upon the equipment installed in vehicle.

  1. Before removing the seat, obtain the radio security code and then disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Push the seat forward.
  4.  
  5. Remove the caps and remove the Phillips-head screws located under caps on each seat track.
  6.

  1. Remove the cap nut (2) and socket-head screw (3).
  2.  
  3. Release the retaining rod (1) and pull the seat toward the rear, out of the guide rails.
  4.  


NOTE
The attachment with the socket-head screw is replaced by a stop-spring as a running change.

  1. Unclip the stop spring.
  2.  
  3. Pull the release lever up and push out the seat to the rear.
  4.  


NOTE
For vehicles with heated seats, disconnect the harness connector.


CAUTION
When sliding the seat out of the guide rails, ensure that carpeting is not ripped.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2.  
  3. Tightening torque of the socket-head screw is 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
  4.

NOTE

For power seat, move seat fully up and back before disconnecting battery.
 
Before disconnecting battery, determine radio code.
 

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  2.  
  3. Pull off the front left and right caps toward front.
  4.  
  5. Remove the bolts.
  6.  
  7. Carefully remove the front seat from the vehicle.
  8.
