Disarming the System

Zone 1



  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    NOTE
    With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate a SIR system malfunction.

  4.  
  5. Locate and remove the AM2 Fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  8.  
  9. Locate the front end sensor - right electrical connector.
  10.  
  11. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the front end sensor - right connector.
  12.  
  13. Remove the front end sensor - right electrical connector from the front end sensor - right.
  14.  
  15. Open the hood, and locate the front end discriminating sensor - left electrical connector.
  16.  
  17. Remove the CPA from the front end sensor - left connector.
  18.  
  19. Remove the front end sensor - left electrical connector from the front end sensor - left.
  20.  

  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    NOTE
    With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate a SIR system malfunction.

  4.  
  5. Locate and remove the AM2 Fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  8.  
  9. Locate the front end sensor - right electrical connector.
  10.  
  11. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the front end sensor - right connector.
  12.  
  13. Remove the front end sensor - right electrical connector from the front end sensor - right.
  14.  
  15. Open the hood, and locate the front end discriminating sensor - left electrical connector.
  16.  
  17. Remove the CPA from the front end sensor - left connector.
  18.  
  19. Remove the front end sensor - left electrical connector from the front end sensor - left.
  20.  

Zone 10



  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    NOTE
    With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  4.  
  5. Locate and remove the AM2 fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Remove the rear door sill plate.
  10.  
  11. Remove the rear seat garnish molding.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the Side Impact Sensor (SIS) electrical connector.
  14.  

  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    NOTE
    With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  4.  
  5. Locate and remove the AM2 fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Remove the rear door sill plate.
  10.  
  11. Remove the rear seat garnish molding.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the Side Impact Sensor (SIS) electrical connector.
  14.  

Zone 12



  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    NOTE
    With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  5. Locate and remove the AM2 fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Remove the rear door sill plate.
  10.  
  11. Remove the rear seat garnish molding.

Zone 2



  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.

  7. Locate and remove the AM2 Fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.

  9. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  10.  
  11. Remove the front door sill plate.
  12.  
  13. Remove the rear door sill plate.
  14.  
  15. Remove the center pillar lower trim panel.
  16.  
  17. Remove the front seat belt retractor.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the SIS electrical connector.
  20.  
  21. Remove the quarter upper trim panel.
  22.  
  23. Remove the center pillar upper trim panel.
  24.  
  25. Disconnect the left roof rail module wiring harness yellow connector from the left roof rail module.
  26.  

  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  4.  
  5. With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
  6.  
  7. Locate and remove the AM2 Fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  10.  
  11. Remove the front door sill plate.
  12.  
  13. Remove the rear door sill plate.
  14.  
  15. Remove the center pillar lower trim panel.
  16.  
  17. Remove the front seat belt retractor.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the SIS electrical connector.
  20.  
  21. Remove the quarter upper trim panel.
  22.  
  23. Remove the center pillar upper trim panel.
  24.  
  25. Disconnect the left roof rail module wiring harness yellow connector from the left roof rail module.
  26.  

Zone 4



  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    NOTE
    With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  4.  
  5. Locate and remove the AM2 fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  8.  
  9. Release the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector locking mechanism.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector C3.
  12.  
  13. Remove the Instrument Panel (I/P) glove compartment.
  14.  
  15. Release then unlock the I/P module connector.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect the I/P module pigtail.
  18.  
  19. Release and unlock the driver and passenger seat module connectors.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the driver and passenger seat modules.
  22.  
  23. Remove the quarter upper trim panel.
  24.  
  25. Remove the center pillar upper trim panel.
  26.  
  27. Disconnect the left and right roof rail module wiring harness yellow connectors from the roof rail modules.
  28.  

  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    NOTE
    With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  4.  
  5. Locate and remove the AM2 fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  8.  
  9. Release the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector locking mechanism.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector C3.
  12.  
  13. Remove the Instrument Panel (I/P) glove compartment.
  14.  
  15. Release then unlock the I/P module connector.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect the I/P module pigtail.
  18.  
  19. Release and unlock the driver and passenger seat module connectors.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the driver and passenger seat modules.
  22.  
  23. Remove the quarter upper trim panel.
  24.  
  25. Remove the center pillar upper trim panel.
  26.  
  27. Disconnect the left and right roof rail module wiring harness yellow connectors from the roof rail modules.
  28.  

Zone 5



  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    NOTE
    With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  4.  
  5. Locate and remove the AM2 fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Remove the glove compartment.
  10.  
  11. Release then unlock the Instrument Panel (I/P) module connector.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the I/P module pigtail.
  14.  

  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    NOTE
    With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  4.  
  5. Locate and remove the AM2 fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Remove the glove compartment.
  10.  
  11. Release then unlock the Instrument Panel (I/P) module connector.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the I/P module pigtail.
  14.  

Zone 6



  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    NOTE
    With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  5. Locate and remove the AM2 fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Remove the front door sill plate.
  10.  
  11. Remove the rear door sill plate.
  12.  
  13. Remove the center pillar lower trim panel.
  14.  
  15. Remove the front seat belt retractor.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect the SIS electrical connector.
  18.  
  19. Remove the quarter upper trim panel.
  20.  
  21. Remove the center pillar upper trim panel.
  22.  
  23. Disconnect the right roof rail module wiring harness yellow connector from the right roof rail module.
  24.  

  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    NOTE
    With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  4.  
  5. Locate and remove the AM2 fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Remove the front door sill plate.
  10.  
  11. Remove the rear door sill plate.
  12.  
  13. Remove the center pillar lower trim panel.
  14.  
  15. Remove the front seat belt retractor.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect the SIS electrical connector.
  18.  
  19. Remove the quarter upper trim panel.
  20.  
  21. Remove the center pillar upper trim panel.
  22.  
  23. Disconnect the right roof rail module wiring harness yellow connector from the right roof rail module.
  24.  

Zone 7



  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    NOTE
    With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  4.  
  5. Locate and remove the AM2 fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Release and unlock the Driver Seat Module (DSM) connector.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the DSM connector.
  12.  

  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    NOTE
    With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  4.  
  5. Locate and remove the AM2 fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Release and unlock the Driver Seat Module (DSM) connector.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the DSM connector.
  12.  

Zone 9



  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    NOTE
    With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  4.  
  5. Locate and remove the AM2 fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Release and unlock the Passenger Seat Module (PSM) connector.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the PSM connector.
  12.  

  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2.  
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    NOTE
    With the SIR fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  4.  
  5. Locate and remove the AM2 fuse from the junction block, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Release and unlock the Passenger Seat Module (PSM) connector.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the PSM connector.
