  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the transaxle fluid.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Hood
     
    No. 2 cylinder head cover
     
    Battery and battery carrier
     
    Air cleaner assembly with hose
     
    Floor shift cable transmission control shift
     
    Transmission control cable support
     
    No. 1 transmission control cable bracket
     
    Wiring harness and brackets
     
    Transmission wire connector
     
    Park/neutral position switch connector, with Anti-lock Brake System (ABS)
     
    Speedometer sensor connector, without ABS
     
    Transmission revolution sensor connectors, if equipped
     
    Transmission fluid filler tube
     
    No. 1 oil cooler inlet and outlet tubes
     
    Foot rest
     
    Floor carpet
     
    Oxygen (O 2 ) sensor connector

  7. Suspend the engine as follows:
    1. Disconnect the 2 Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hoses.
    2.  
    3. Install the No. 1 and No. 2 engine hangers in the correct direction.
    4.  
    5. No. 1 engine hanger: P/N 12281-22021 (A246E) or 12281-88600 (U240E).
    6.  
    7. No. 2 engine hanger: P/N 12281-15040 (A246E) or 12281-88600 (U240E)
    8.  
    9. Bolt: P/N 91512-B1016.
    10.  
    11. Torque the bolt to 28 ft. lbs. (38 Nm).
    12.  
    13. Attach an engine chain hoist to the engine hangers.

      Front wheels
       
      Right and left engine undercovers
       
      Front floor panel brace, U240E transaxle
       
      Front exhaust pipe
       
      Front halfshafts
       
      Automatic transmission case protector
       
      Starter

  9. Support the transaxle with a floor jack

    Left side transverse engine mounting insulator and bracket
     
    Right side front and rear engine mount insulators
     
    4 bolts, dynamic damper and member sub-assembly
     
    Front and rear right side transverse engine mounting brackets
     
    Flywheel housing undercover
     
    Automatic transaxle. Turn the crankshaft for access to the 6 bolts while holding the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench.
     
    Torque converter clutch

  11. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, noting the following specifications:
    1. Automatic transaxle: Bolt -A- to 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm), bolt -B- to 34 ft. lbs. (47 Nm) and bolt -C- to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).

    3. Torque converter bolts: 20 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).

    5. Front and rear right transverse engine mounting bracket bolts: 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm).

    7. Member sub-assembly center bolts: -A- bolts to 29 ft. lbs. (39 Nm) and -B- bolts to 38 ft. lbs. (52 Nm).
    8.  
    9. Right rear engine mounting insulator-to-engine mounting bracket bolt: 64 ft. lbs. (87 Nm).
    10.  
    11. Right rear engine mount insulator nuts and bolt: 38 ft. lbs. (52 Nm).
    12.  
    13. Left side engine mounting bracket-to-transaxle bolts: 38 ft. lbs. (52 Nm).
    14.  
    15. Left side engine mounting insulator bolts and nut: Bolt -A- to 38 ft. lbs. (52 Nm), Bolt -B- and Nut -B- to 59 ft. lbs. (80 Nm).

    31. Transmission control cable bracket bolts: 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).

    33. Transmission control cable support: 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
    34.  
    35. Battery carrier: 10 ft. lbs. (13 Nm).
    36.  
    37. Air cleaner assembly: 62 inch lbs. (7 Nm).
    38.  
    39. Cylinder head cover bolts: 62 inch lbs. (7 Nm).
    40.  
    41. Hood bolts: 10 ft. lbs. (13 Nm).
    42.

  13. Fill the transaxle fluid to the proper level.
  14.  
  15. Start the vehicle, check for leaks and repair if necessary.

    Oil cooler inlet and outlet tubes
     
    Transverse engine mounting brackets
     
    Flywheel housing undercover
     
    Automatic transaxle. Turn the crankshaft for access to the 6 bolts while holding the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench.

  7. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, noting the following specifications:
    1. Automatic transaxle: Bolt -A- to 47 ft. lbs. (64 Nm), bolt -B- to 34 ft. lbs. (47 Nm) and bolt -C- to 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).

    3. Oil cooler clamp bolts: 8 ft. lbs. (11 Nm) for the top bolt and 49 inch lbs. (5.5 Nm) for the bottom bolt

    5. Oil cooler inlet and outlet tube bolts: 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm).
    6.  
    7. Wire harness clamp bracket bolt: 48 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
    8.  
    9. Transmission control cable bracket and support bolts: 9 ft. lbs. (12 Nm).
    10.  
    11. Automatic transmission case protector bolts: 17 ft. lbs. (23 Nm).

  9. Fill the transaxle fluid to the proper level.

  11. Start the vehicle, check for leaks and repair if necessary.

  9. Fill the transaxle fluid to the proper level.

  11. Start the vehicle, check for leaks and repair if necessary.

    Transmission control cable support
     
    No. 1 transmission control cable bracket
     
    Wiring harness and brackets
     
    Transmission wire connector
     
    Park/neutral position switch connector, with Anti-lock Brake System (ABS)
     
    Speedometer sensor connector, without ABS
     
    Transmission revolution sensor connectors, if equipped
     
    Transmission fluid filler tube
     
    No. 1 oil cooler inlet and outlet tubes
