Removal & Installation



  1. Remove the front suspension crossmember.

  3. Remove the 2 nuts and the 2 stabilizer shaft links from the stabilizer shaft.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 4 bolts and the 2 stabilizer shaft clamps.
  6.  
  7. Remove the 2 stabilizer shaft insulators.
  8.  
  9. Remove the stabilizer shaft from the crossmember.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Position the stabilizer shaft on the crossmember.
  2.  
  3. Install the 2 stabilizer shaft insulators to the stabilizer shaft.
  4.  
  5. Install the 2 clamps and the 4 bolts to the insulators.
  6.  
  7. Install the crossmember to the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the 4 bolts to the clamps. Tighten the bolts to 14.0 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the 2 stabilizer shaft links and the 2 nuts to the stabilizer shaft. Tighten the nuts to 54.6 ft. lbs. (74 Nm).
  12.  

  1. Remove the front suspension crossmember as follows:
    1. Install an engine support fixture.
    2.  
    3. Raise and support the vehicle.
    4.  
    5. Remove the front wheel.
    6.  
    7. Use a 6 mm wrench in order to hold the left front stabilizer shaft link stud. Remove the nut from the stud in order to separate the link from the left front strut.
    8.  
    9. Use a 6 mm wrench in order to hold the right front stabilizer shaft link stud. Remove the nut from the stud in order to separate the link from the right front strut.
    10.  
    11. Remove the engine splash shields.
    12.  
    13. Remove the nuts and bolts that attach the control arm to the knuckle on both sides of the vehicle.
    14.  
    15. Suspend the steering gear using wire.
    16.  
    17. Remove crossmember bolts 7, 12, 13 and 14. refer to the illustration for bolt locations.
    18.  
    19. Remove the bolts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
    20.  
    21. Remove the nuts 9, 10 and 11.
    22.  
    23. Support the crossmember with a jack.
    24.  
    25. Remove the bolts 6, 8, 13 and 15.
    26.  
    27. Use the jack in order to lower the crossmember.

  3. Remove the 2 nuts and the 2 stabilizer shaft links from the stabilizer shaft.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 4 bolts and the 2 stabilizer shaft clamps.
  6.  
  7. Remove the 2 stabilizer shaft insulators.
  8.  
  9. Remove the stabilizer shaft from the crossmember.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Position the stabilizer shaft on the crossmember.
  2.  
  3. Install the 2 stabilizer shaft insulators to the stabilizer shaft.
  4.  
  5. Install the 2 clamps and the 4 bolts to the insulators.
  6.  
  7. Install the crossmember to the vehicle as follows:
    1. Use a jack in order to raise and support the crossmember with the attached components as a unit.
    2.  
    3. Use a wood dowel, inserted into the hole in the right side of the crossmember and the hole in the body to align the bolt holes.

    5. Install the bolts 1 and 2 to the crossmember. Refer to the illustration for bolt locations.

    7. Use a wood dowel, inserted into the hole in the left side of the crossmember and the hole in the body to align the bolt holes
    8.  
    9. Install the bolts 8 and 6 to the crossmember. Refer to the illustration for bolt locations.
    10.  
    11. Insert the dowel into the hole in the right side of the crossmember and the hole in the body. Use the dowel in order to align the bolt holes.
    12.  
    13. Install the bolt 13 and tighten to 115 ft. lbs. (157 Nm). Refer to the illustration for bolt locations.
    14.  
    15. Install the bolt 15 and tighten to 83 ft. lbs. (113 Nm). Refer to the illustration for bolt locations.
    16.  
    17. Insert the dowel into the hole in the left side of the crossmember and the hole in the body. Use the dowel in order to align the bolt holes.
    18.  
    19. Install the bolt 8 and tighten to 115 ft. lbs. (157 Nm). Refer to the illustration for bolt locations.
    20.  
    21. Install the bolt 6 and tighten to 83 ft. lbs. (113 Nm). Refer to the illustration for bolt locations.
    22.  
    23. Remove the jack from the crossmember.
    24.  
    25. Install the nuts 9, 10 and 11. Tighten to 38 ft. lbs. (52 Nm). Refer to the illustration for bolt locations.
    26.  
    27. Install the bolts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Tighten to 38 ft. lbs. (52 Nm). Refer to the illustration for bolt locations.
    28.  
    29. Install the bolts 7, 12, 13 and 14. Tighten to 42 ft. lbs. (58 Nm). Refer to the illustration for bolt locations.
    30.  
    31. Remove the wire from the steering gear.
    32.  
    33. Install the control arm to knuckle nuts and bolts. Tighten to 65 ft. lbs. (89 Nm).
    34.  
    35. Install the splash shields.
    36.  
    37. Use a 6 mm wrench in order to hold the left front stabilizer shaft link stud to the stabilizer link. Install the nut and the stud to the strut bracket. Tighten the nut to 54 ft. lbs. (74 Nm).
    38.  
    39. Use a 6 mm wrench in order to hold the right front stabilizer shaft link stud to the stabilizer link. Install the nut and the stud to the strut bracket. Tighten the nut to 54 ft. lbs. (74 Nm).
    40.  
    41. Install the front tire and lower the vehicle.
    42.  
    43. Remove the engine support fixture.
    44.
