Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Remove the radiator inlet hose.
  6.  
  7. Remove the radiator outlet hose.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect transmission oil cooler lines.
  10.  
  11. If equipped with an air pump:
    1. Disconnect the 2 hoses from the air pump outlet pipe.
    2.  
    3. Remove the 2 bolts from the air pump outlet pipe.

  13. Disconnect the fan motor electrical connector.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect two fan motor electrical harness clamps from the fan shroud.

  17. Remove two radiator mount bolts.
  18.  
  19. Remove the radiator fan with the motor
  20.  
  21. Transfer all necessary components onto the replacement radiator.
  22.  

To install:


NOTE
 Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Position the radiator and fan shroud assembly. Tighten the radiator bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Connect the 2 fan motor electrical harness clamps to the fan shroud.
  4.  
  5. Connect the fan motor electrical connector.
  6.  
  7. If equipped with an air pump:
    1. Install the 2 bolts from the air pump outlet pipe. Tighten the air pump outlet pipe bolts to 62 inch lbs. (7 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Connect the 2 hoses from the air pump outlet pipe.

  9. Connect the transmission oil cooler lines.
  10.  
  11. Install the radiator outlet hose.
  12.  
  13. Install the radiator inlet hose.
  14.  
  15. Refill the cooling system.
  16.  
  17. Connect the negative battery cable.
    WARNING
     Watch for a potential overheating condition while the engine is operating with the radiator cap off.

  18.  
  19. Start and run the engine until the coolant is at operating temperature.
  20.  
  21. Inspect the transmission fluid level, on vehicles with automatic transmission.
  22.  
  23. Tighten any loose connections as necessary.
  24.  

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Drain the cooling system.
  4.  
  5. Remove the radiator inlet hose.
  6.  
  7. Remove the radiator outlet hose.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect transmission oil cooler lines.
  10.  
  11. If equipped with an air pump:
    1. Disconnect the 2 hoses from the air pump outlet pipe.
    2.  
    3. Remove the 2 bolts from the air pump outlet pipe.

  13. Disconnect the fan motor electrical connector.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect two fan motor electrical harness clamps from the fan shroud.

  17. Remove two radiator mount bolts.
  18.  
  19. Remove the radiator fan with the motor
  20.  
  21. Transfer all necessary components onto the replacement radiator.

To install:


NOTE

  9. Connect the transmission oil cooler lines.

  11. Install the radiator outlet hose.
  12.  
  13. Install the radiator inlet hose.
  14.  
  15. Refill the cooling system.
  16.  
  17. Connect the negative battery cable.
    WARNING

  19. Start and run the engine until the coolant is at operating temperature.
  20.  
  21. Inspect the transmission fluid level, on vehicles with automatic transmission.
