Pressure Bleeding

Print

WARNING
Pressure bleeding equipment must be the diaphragm type and must have a rubber diaphragm between the air supply and the brake fluid. Air, moisture, oil and other contaminants can damage the hydraulic system.

  1. Clean the outside of the brake fluid reservoir and the cap.
  2.
  3. Remove the reservoir cap.
  4.
  5. Remove the reservoir diaphragm.
  6.
  7. Install the J 39801-VIBE , or equivalent, to the reservoir.
  8.
  9. Add brake fluid to the J 29532 , or equivalent, in order to raise the fluid level above the half mark.
  10.
  11. Connect the J 29532 , or equivalent, to the J 39801-VIBE , or equivalent.
  12.
  13. Charge the J 29532 , or equivalent, to 25 - 30 phi (175 - 205 kappa).
  14.
  15. Open the fluid tank valve for the J 29532 , or equivalent, in order to allow pressurized brake fluid to enter the hydraulic brake system.
  16.
  17. Wait 30 seconds.
  18.
  19. Inspect the hydraulic brake system for external leaks.
  20.
  21. Remove the bleeder valve cap.

  23. Install a transparent hose (1) over the end of the bleeder valve (2). Submerge the other end of the hose in a transparent container (5) partially filled with brake fluid.
  24.
  25. Loosen the bleeder valve in order to purge air from the wheel hydraulic circuit.
  26.
  27. Close the bleeder valve. Tighten the bleeder valve to 73.5 inch lbs (8.3 Nm).
  28.
  29. Repeat this procedure until air (6) is purged from the wheel hydraulic circuit.
  30.
  31. Install the bleeder valve cap.
  32.
  33. Repeat this procedure at all bleeder valves that require bleeding.
  34.
  35. Close the fluid tank valve for the J 29532 , or equivalent.
  36.
  37. Remove the J 29532 , or equivalent, from the J 39801-VIBE , or equivalent.
  38.
  39. Remove the J 39801-VIBE , or equivalent, from the reservoir.
  40.
  41. Replenish the brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir to the MAX mark and install the cap.
  42.
  43. Slowly press and release the brake pedal. Observe the feel of the brake pedal.
  44.
  45. If the brake pedal feels spongy, repeat the bleeding procedure.
  46.
  47. Inspect the hydraulic brake system for external leaks.
  48.
  49. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position with the engine OFF. Inspect the instrument cluster.
