Input Shaft Speed Sensor Signal

Possible Causes:

A scan tool should indicate a input shaft speed whenever the drive wheels are turning at a speed of more than 5 km/h (3 mph). DTC P1725 can be falsely set if the engine is brake-torqued in gear. Disregard DTC P1725 if the DTC sets when the drive wheels are not turning. An intermittent malfunction may be caused by a fault in the ISS sensor electrical circuit. Inspect the wiring harness and the components for any of the following conditions:



Any backed-out terminals
 
Any improper mating of terminals
 
Any broken electrical connector locks
 
Any improperly formed or damaged terminals
 
Any faulty terminal-to-wire connections
 
Any physical damage to the wiring harness
 
A broken wire inside the insulation
 
Any corrosion of the electrical connections, the splices, or the terminals

Transmission Position Sensor Signal

Possible Causes:

Inspect for the following conditions:



A short between the line pressure control solenoid - high and the line pressure control solenoid - low circuits
 
An open or high resistance between the line pressure control solenoid - high and the line pressure control solenoid - low circuits
 
A short to ground in the line pressure control solenoid - high or the line pressure control solenoid - low circuits
 
A short to ground in the line pressure control solenoid - high or the line pressure control solenoid - low circuits
 
A malfunctioning line pressure control solenoid

PNP Switch to Gear Position Malfunction

Possible Causes:

Inspect for the following conditions:



The PNP switch, for proper operation
 
Poor connection at the PCM connector C3, the PNP switch connector, and at connector CZ10--Inspect the harness connectors for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, and poor terminal-to-wire connection.
 
Damaged harness--Inspect the wiring harness for damage.
 
If DTC P1780 cannot be duplicated, the information included in the freeze frame data can be useful in determining vehicle operating conditions since the DTC was last set. This may assist in determining how often the DTC sets.

Possible Causes:



TAC Motor Current is displayed on the scan tool, but the displayed value freezes when the MIL illuminates and the DTC sets.
 
The throttle valve is spring loaded to a slightly open position. The throttle valve should be open approximately 11-15 percent. This is referred to as the rest position.
 
The throttle valve should not be completely closed or open any more than a specified amount.
 
The throttle valve should move open and to the closed position without binding under the normal spring pressure.
 
The throttle should NOT be free to move open or closed WITHOUT spring pressure.
 
For an intermittent condition, refer to Intermittent Conditions .

Possible Causes:



TAC Motor Current is displayed on the scan tool, but the displayed value freezes when the MIL illuminates and the DTC sets.
 
DTC P2118 sets when there is an open or a short to ground in the TAC Ignition positive voltage circuit. When this fault occurs, a sudden surge of current can be detected in the TAC motor control circuits, causing a DTC P2103 to also set.
 
For an intermittent condition, refer to Intermittent Conditions .

Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 1 Intermittent

Possible Causes:



On a good APP sensor 1 the scan tool will typically display a voltage of 0.75-0.80 volts at idle. APP sensor 2 voltage will be 1.60-1.65 volts at idle. An intermittent malfunction may be caused by fault in the APP sensor electrical circuits. Inspect the wiring harness and the components for an intermittent condition. Refer to Intermittent Conditions . Repair any electrical circuit faults that were found. Refer to Wiring Repairs . The information included in the Freeze Frame data can be useful in determining the vehicle operating conditions when the DTC first set.
