Windows are best cleaned with an ammonia solution in which ammonia is combined with luke-warm water. Because silicone is present in many liquid and paste cleaners, the windshield should not be exposed to any such preparations. When silicone comes into contact with the windshield, the result is severe streaking by the wiper blades and subsequent poor visibility and danger. When cleaning the windshield with ammonia, the blades should also be wiped off with the same solution. It is advisable to move the wiper arms forward where they will be out of the way and less likely to become bent or otherwise abused. Care should be taken to see that ammonia solutions do not come into contact with the paint.
