REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
- Jack up the car and remove the wheel and tire.
- Remove the caliper.
- On Type 2 models, remove the three socket head bolts which secure the disc to the hub, and remove the disc from the hub. Sometimes the disc is rusted to the hub. Spray penetrating oil on the seam and tap the disc with a lead or brass hammer. If it still does not come off, screw three 8(#29) ff40mm screws into the socket head holes. Tighten the screws evenly and pull the disc from the hub.
- Type 1, 3, and 4 models, remove the wheel bearing cover. On the left side it will be necessary to remove the small clip which secures the end of the speedometer cable to the cover.
- Loosen the nut clamp, unscrew the wheel bearing nut and remove the nut and outer wheel bearing.
- Pull the disc off of the spindle.
- To remove the wheel bearing races, see the "Wheel Bearing Removal and Installation" procedure.
- Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Make sure the wheel bearing is properly adjusted.
Visually check the rotor for excessive scoring. Minor scores will not affect performance; however, if the scores are over 1 / 32 in., it is necessary to replace the disc or have it resurfaced. The disc must be 0.02 in. over the wear limit to be resurfaced. The disc must be free of surface cracks and discoloration (heat bluing). Hand spin the disc and make sure that it does not wobble from side to side.
