Lack of HO2S-21 Switching, Fuel Trim At Rich/Lean Limit

Possible Causes:



Air intake system leaking, vacuum hoses leaking or damaged
 
Air leaks located after the MAF sensor mounting location
 
EGR valve sticking, EGR diaphragm leaking, or gasket leaking
 
EVAP vapor recovery system has failed
 
Excessive fuel pressure, leaking or contaminated fuel injectors
 
Exhaust leaks before or near the HO2S(s) mounting location
 
Fuel pressure regulator is leaking or damaged
 
HO2S circuits wet or oily, corroded, or poor terminal contact
 
HO2S signal circuit open, shorted to ground, shorted to power, or the sensor has failed
 
Low fuel pressure or vehicle driven until it was out of fuel
 
Oil dipstick not seated or engine oil level too high (overfilled)

HO2S Heater (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Control Circuit Malfunction

Possible Causes:



HO2S is contaminated (due to presence of silicone in fuel)
 
HO2S signal and ground circuit wires crossed in wiring harness
 
HO2S signal circuit is shorted to sensor or chassis ground
 
HO2S element has failed (internal short condition)
 
ECM has failed

HO2S Heater (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Circuit Low Input

Possible Causes:



HO2S is contaminated (due to presence of silicone in fuel)
 
HO2S signal and ground circuit wires crossed in wiring harness
 
HO2S signal circuit is shorted to sensor or chassis ground
 
HO2S element has failed (internal short condition)
 
ECM has failed

HO2S Heater (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Circuit High Input

Possible Causes:



HO2S signal shorted to heater power circuit inside connector
 
HO2S signal circuit shorted to ground or to system voltage

Mass air flow (MAF) sensor has failed or is damaged

Possible Causes:



Check for leaks between MAF sensor and throttle valve control module
 
Voltage supply faulty.
 
Sensor power circuit open from fuel pump relay to MAF sensor
 
Sensor signal circuit open (may be disconnected) from ECM and MAF
 
Faulty ground cable resistance between connector terminal 1 and Ground
 
MAF Sensor malfunction

MAF Sensor Circuit High Input

Possible Causes:



Check for leaks between MAF sensor and throttle valve control module
 
Voltage supply faulty.
 
Sensor power circuit open from fuel pump relay to MAF sensor
 
Sensor signal circuit open (may be disconnected) from ECM and MAF
 
Faulty ground cable resistance between connector terminal 1 and Ground
 
MAF Sensor malfunction

ECM has failed

Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit High Input

Possible Causes:



IAT sensor signal circuit is open (inspect wiring & connector)
 
IAT sensor signal circuit is shorted
 
Resistance value between sockets 33 and 36 out of range
 
IAT sensor is damaged or it has failed
 
ECM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0116



ECT Sensor / CHT Sensor Signal Range/Performance

Possible Causes:



Check for low coolant level or incorrect coolant mixture
 
ECM detects a short circuit wiring in the ECT
 
CHT sensor is out-of-calibration or it has failed
 
ECT sensor is out-of-calibration or it has failed

ECT Sensor Circuit Low Input

Possible Causes:



ECT sensor signal circuit is grounded in the wiring harness
 
ECT sensor doesn-t react to changes in temperature

TP sensor and/or control module is damaged or has failed

Check the operation of the thermostat (it may be stuck open)
