The engine code, which is made up of the engine ID code and serial number is found next to the vibration damper on the cylinder head.
The engine identification consists of up to nine characters (alpha-numeric). The first portion (maximum 3 characters) represents the "engine ID code", the second portion (six characters) represents the serial number. If more than 999,999 engines were produced under the same code, the first of the six characters is replaced with a letter.
Also, a sticker containing "engine ID code" and "serial number" is placed on the oil filler tube. The engine ID code is also included on the vehicle data plate.
The engine number ( "engine code" and "running number" ) is located on left side of engine behind cylinder head cover on cylinder block.
