REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Dasher, Fox and Quantum Models
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle on jack stands.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine oil. Loosen the bolts/nuts securing motor mounts.
  4.  
  5. Support and slightly raise the engine with an overhead hoist.
  6.  
  7. Gradually loosen the engine crossmember mounting bolts. Remove the left and right side engine mounts.
  8.  
  9. Lower the crossmember very carefully.
  10.  
  11. Remove the oil pan. If it is stuck, tap the sides with a mallet. Do not pry against the gasket surfaces. Clean the gasket mating surfaces.
  12.  

To install:
  1. Install the pan using a new gasket and sealer.
  2.  
  3. Tighten the retaining bolts in a crisscross pattern. Tighten the hex head bolts to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm), or the Allen head bolts to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Raise the crossmember. Tighten the crossmember bolts to 42 ft. lbs. (57 Nm) and the engine mounting bolts to 32 ft. lbs. (44 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Refill the engine with oil. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  8.

Other Models
  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle on jack stands.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4.  
  5. Loosen and remove the socket or Allen head oil pan retaining bolts.
  6.  
  7. Lower the pan from the car. If it is stuck, tap the sides with a mallet. Do not pry against the gasket surfaces.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Clean all the gasket surfaces thoroughly and coat the block surface with sealant before installing the gasket.
  2.  
  3. Install the pan using a new gasket.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the hex headed bolts to 14 (19 Nm), or Allen bolts to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm) in a crisscross pattern.
  6.  
  7. Refill the engine with oil. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  8.
