REMOVAL & INSTALLATION




CAUTION
Some brake pads may contain asbestos, which has been determined to be a cancer causing agent. Never clean the brake surfaces with compressed air! Avoid inhaling any dust from any brake surface! When cleaning brake surfaces, use a commercially available brake cleaning fluid.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Raise and safely support the front of the vehicle with jackstands. Remove the wheels.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rubber plug and back off the brake adjuster.
  6.  
  7. Remove the screw securing the drum to the hub. Pull off the drum.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal. Adjust the brakes.
  10.  

INSPECTION



  1. Check the drum for scoring or warping.
  2.  
  3. Check for signs of heat cracking or discoloring.
  4.  
  5. Check the maximum inside diameter after resurfacing. It must be no more than the figure listed in the Brake Specification Chart, at the end of this section.
