REAR SUSPENSION

Print

See Figure 1

The Dasher rear suspension has a rear axle beam tube on each side. Trailing arms mount to the unit body in rubber bushings. A coil spring and shock absorber are located at each wheel. A Panhard rod locates the axle against side forces.

The Golf, Rabbit (except the Pick-up), Jetta and Scirocco rear suspension includes a torsion beam which connects the two trailing arms. On these models, the coil spring and the shock absorber are combined into a strut. The Quantum rear axle assembly is similar to this type, but uses different axle bushings.
