1990-92 Cabriolet, Fox, Golf and Jetta
  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2.  
  3. Detach all electrical connectors and or wiring harnesses leading to the regulator.
  4.  
  5. On CIS-E fuel systems, remove the vacuum lines.
  6.  
  7. Remove the fasteners that secure the regulator to the fuel rail.
  8.  


NOTE
Always clean any dirt away from the fuel line fittings before loosening them.

  1. Remove the fuel pressure regulator.
  2.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2.  

1993-99 Cabrio, Golf and Jetta
  1. Remove the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the vacuum hose from the regulator.
  4.  
  5. Remove the retaining clip from the fuel pressure regulator.
  6.  
  7. Cover the fuel pressure regulator with a shop towel and remove it from the fuel rail.
  8.  

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2.
