The front cross member from the body. Remove the brake pipe from the mountings in the member

    The rear cross member

The rear exhaust pipe. Support the front section of the exhaust pipe/three-way catalytic converter (TWC) so as not to put strain on the exhaust manifold.

  2.
  3. Remove the bolts from the propeller shaft.
  4.
  5. The following applies only to cars with 5-cylinder engines.
    1. Remove the bolts from the propeller shaft. Use a counterhold.
    2.
    3. Leave one bolt in place by a few threads for safety.
    4.

  6.
  7. The following applies to cars with 5-cylinder engines and with a vibration damper on the flange for the Active on Demand Coupling.
    1. Remove the bolts from the propeller shaft. Use a counterhold.
    2.
    3. Leave one bolt in place by a few threads for safety.
    4.

  8.
  9. The following applies only to cars with 6-cylinder engines.

To install:

  1. Check carefully that the mating surfaces on the propeller shaft and flange are clean.
  2.
  3. Align the propeller shaft joints with the flanges. Loosely install the bolts in the center member and the center bearing. Tighten the flange bolts. Step 1, 84 inch lbs. (10 Nm); step 2, 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  4.

NOTE
Use new bolts.

  1. Tighten the 4 M8 bolts for the support for the center bearing. Tighten the 2 M8 bolts for the propeller shaft center bearing. Tighten all bolts to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  2.
  3. Install:

The front cross member to the body using 4 M8 bolts. Tighten

The brake pipe in the mountings in the member

The rear exhaust pipe assembly using 2 M8 bolts. Tighten

  4.
