Diagnosis & Testing

The control modules have a built-in diagnostic system, Volvo Diagnostics, which continuously monitors internal functions as well as input and output signals. The central locking system is a distributed system which stores Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in different control modules depending on where the fault occurred.

A Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is stored if a control module detects a fault in a connected component. If for some reason a fault disappears after the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) has been permanently stored in a control module, information about the fault remains in the control module.

  1. Check for any current or stored DTCs that are related to the central locking system and specifically to the power door locks.
  2.
