Disarming the System

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Align the steering wheel so the vehicle wheels are pointing in the straight-ahead position.
  4.  
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  6.  
  7. Remove the SIR or AIR BAG fuse from the fuse block.
  8.  
  9. Disable the passenger side air bag as follows:
    1. Locate the SIR connector attached to the HVAC blower motor and disconnect the clip.
      NOTE
      Do not remove the upper trim panel as you are able to disable the passenger side air bag from the underside of the instrument panel.

    3. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) device, then disengage the yellow 2-way SIR wiring harness connector.

  11. Disable the drivers side air bag as follows:

  13. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) device, then disengage the yellow 2-way SIR wiring harness connector at the base of the steering column.
  14.  
  15. Disable the curtain air bag as follows:
    1. Remove the center push pins located in the upper headliner trim panel.
    2.  
    3. Remove the left D-pillar upper trim panel.
    4.  
    5. Using a flat bladed tool, partially remove the right and left coat hook center retainers, then remove the coat hooks.
    6.  
    7. Pull back the headliner gently to access the yellow 2-way connectors.
    8.  
    9. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) device, then disengage the yellow 2-way SIR wiring harness connector.

  13. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) device, then disengage the yellow 2-way SIR wiring harness connector at the base of the steering column.

  15. Disable the curtain air bag as follows:
