Adjustment



The wheel bearing are sealed at the factory and do not require any adjustment or maintenance.

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Wheel
     
    Brake caliper mounting bracket bolts and suspend the assembly from the strut spring with wire
     
    Brake rotor
     
    ABS sensor electrical connection, if equipped
     
    ABS sensor electrical connection from the bracket, if equipped
     
    Drive shaft axle nut
     

  4.  
  5. Support the axle with wire

    Drive shaft from the knuckle
     
    Bearing bolts, the bearing assembly and shield
     

  6.

To install:


NOTE
Make sure the drive shaft splines are aligned with the wheel bearing assembly splines. If you do not align the splines you could damage the bearing or drive shaft assemblies.

  1. Install or connect the following:

    Bearing assembly with the shield.
     
    Bearing assembly bolts and tighten to 96 ft. lbs. (130 Nm)
     
    Drive shaft axle nut and torque to 151 ft. lbs. (205 Nm)
     
    ABS sensor electrical connection to the bracket, if equipped
     
    ABS sensor electrical connection, if equipped
     
    Brake rotor
     
    Brake caliper
     
    Wheel
     

  2.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    The wheel
     
    The brake caliper mounting bracket bolts and suspend the assembly from the strut spring with wire
     
    The brake rotor
     
    The ABS sensor electrical connection, if equipped
     
    The ABS sensor electrical connection from the bracket, if equipped
     
    The drive shaft axle nut
     

  4.  
  5. Support the axle with wire.
  6.  
  7. Remove the halfshaft from the knuckle.
  8.  
  9. Remove the bearing bolts, the bearing assembly, and shield.

To install:


NOTE
Make sure the drive shaft splines are aligned with the wheel bearing assembly splines. If you do not align the splines you could damage the bearing or drive shaft assemblies.

  1. Install or connect the following:

    The bearing assembly with the shield. Tighten the bearing assembly bolts to 96 ft. lbs. (130 Nm)
     
    The drive shaft axle nut and torque to 151 ft. lbs. (205 Nm)
     
    The ABS sensor electrical connection to the bracket, if equipped
     
    The ABS sensor electrical connection, if equipped
     
    The brake rotor
     
    The brake caliper
     
    The wheel. Tighten the wheel lug nuts to 100 ft. lbs. (136 Nm).
