Driver's Window Switch
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. With the ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the Front Driver Window switch.
  4.  
  5. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals G and E and the B+ circuit terminal D with the Left Rear Switch in the INACTIVE position.

    If less than infinite resistance, replace the Front Driver Window switch
     

  6.  
  7. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal G and the B+ circuit terminal D with the switch in the UP position.

    If greater than 2 ohms, replace the Front Driver Window switch
     

  8.  
  9. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal E and the B+ circuit terminal D with the switch in the DOWN position.

    If greater than 2 ohms, replace the Front Driver Window switch
     

  10.  
  11. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals B and C and the B+ circuit terminal D with the Left Front Switch in the INACTIVE position.

    If less than infinite resistance, replace the Front Driver Window switch
     

  12.  
  13. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal B and the B+ circuit terminal D with the switch in the UP position.

    If greater than 2 ohms, replace the Front Driver Window switch
     

  14.  
  15. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal C and the B+ circuit terminal D with the switch in the DOWN position.

    If greater than 2 ohms, replace the Front Driver Window switch

Front Passenger's Window Switch
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. With the ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the Front Passenger Window switch.
  4.  
  5. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals F and H and the B+ circuit terminal D with the Right Rear Switch in the INACTIVE position.

    If less than infinite resistance, replace the Front Passenger Window switch 3. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal F and the B+ circuit terminal D with the switch in the UP position.
     



    If greater than 2 ohms, replace the Front Passenger Window switch 4. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal H and the B+ circuit terminal D with the switch in the DOWN position.
     



    If greater than 2 ohms, replace the Front Passenger Window switch 5. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals B and C and the B+ circuit terminal D with the Right Front Switch in the INACTIVE position.
     



    If less than infinite resistance, replace the Front Passenger Window switch 6. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal B and the B+ circuit terminal D with the switch in the UP position.
     



    If greater than 2 ohms, replace the Front Passenger Window switch 7. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal C and the B+ circuit terminal D with the switch in the DOWN position.
     



    If greater than 2 ohms, replace the Front Passenger Window switch

Power Windows System Components

The power window system consists of the following components:



Driver power window switch-controls the up and down operation of the driver and LR passenger power windows
 
Front passenger power window switch-controls the up and down operation of the front passenger and RR passenger power window
 
LR power window switch-controls the up and down operation of the LR power window
 
RR power window switch-controls the up and down operation of the RR power window
 
Window lockout switch-part of the driver power window switch and enables or disables rear power window operation from the rear window switches
 
Power window motors in each of the doors
 
WDO/SUNROOF/AIR 30 Amp circuit breaker-located in the underhood fuse block and provides voltage to the power window relay, air pump relay, and sunroof system at all times
 
Power window relay-located in the right Instrument Panel (I/P) fuse block and provides voltage to the power window switches when the ignition is in ACC or RUN or when in Retained Accessory Power (RAP) mode
 

Rear Window Switch
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate rear Window switch.
  4.  
  5. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals 5 and 2 and the B+ circuit terminal 3 with the switch in the INACTIVE position.

    If less than infinite resistance, replace the appropriate rear Window switch 3. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal 5 and the B+ circuit terminal 3 with the switch in the UP position.
     



    If greater than 2 ohms, replace the appropriate rear Window switch 4. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal 2 and the B+ circuit terminal 3 with the switch in the DOWN position.
     



    If greater than 2 ohms, replace the appropriate rear window switch.

Window Motor
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Install a 30 Amp fused jumper wire between the control terminal A and 12 volts.
  4.  
  5. Momentarily install a jumper wire between the control terminal B and ground.
    1. The appropriate Window Motor should perform the UP or DOWN function.
    2.  
    3. If the function does not perform as specified, replace the appropriate Window Motor.
    4.

  7. Reverse the jumper wires.
    1. The appropriate Window Motor should perform the DOWN or UP function.
    2.  
    3. If the function does not perform as specified, replace the appropriate Window Motor.
    4.

Removal & Installation
Window Motor & Regulator
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Place the front door window in the full down position.
  4.  
  5. Remove the inner front door trim panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the front door water deflector.
  8.  
  9. Lower the window to the center of the inner door panel, align the bolts with the access.
  10.  
  11. Remove the window guide bolts from the window regulator.
  12.  
  13. Slide the window down and out of the primary glass channels.
  14.  
  15. Remove the window by tilting outboard and pulling the window out of the door through the door belt opening.
    WARNING
    Do not damage the sound insulator when removing the regulator.

  16.  
  17. Disconnect the window regulator electrical connector through the belt opening in the door by using a long flat-bladed screwdriver.
  18.  
  19. Remove the net-hole regulator bolts from the regulator (1, 4).
  20.  
  21. Partially remove the keyhole slot bolts (2, 3, 5).
  22.  
  23. Remove the front door regulator/motor out through the lower access hole in the door structure.

To install:

  1. Install the front door regulator through the lower access hole in the door structure.
  2.  
  3. Position the window regulator on the keyhole slot bolts (2, 3, 5) in the door structure.
  4.  
  5. Install the net-hole regulator bolts. Tighten all of the bolts in the sequence shown to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Connect the electrical connector to the front door regulator.
  8.  
  9. Install the window by sliding the window into the door through the outside door belt opening.
  10.  
  11. Install the window into the primary glass channels and rest the window on the regulator guide plate.
  12.  
  13. Install the window guide bolts to the regulator. Tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  14.  
  15. Install the front door water deflector.
  16.  
  17. Install the front inner door trim panel.
  18.  
  19. Inspect the window for proper operation.
  20.  

Window Switch
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the console shift lever bezel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the screws from the power window switch assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the switch assembly from the bezel.

  8.  

To install:

  1. Position the switch assembly.
  2.  
  3. Install the screws to the power mirror switch assembly. Tighten the screws to 27 inch lbs. (3 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the console shift lever bezel.
