Removal & Installation



Lower Control Arm
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    The wheel
     
    The stabilizer link-to-lower control arm nut
     
    The trailing arm bracket-to-underbody bolts
     

  4.  
  5. Support the lower control arm with a suitable jack.
  6.  
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

    The lower shock bolt
     
    The jounce jumper nut from the lower control arm
     
    The lower control arm-to-support frame bolt
     
    The lower control arm-to-knuckle retainers
     
    The lower the jack supporting the control arm slowly to unload the spring
     
    The lower control arm-to-knuckle retainers
     
    The spring
     
    The lower control arm-to-support nut and bolt
     
    The lower control arm
     

  8.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:

    The lower control arm
     
    The lower control arm-to-support and hand tighten the nut
     
    The spring
     
    The jounce jumper and hand tighten the nut
     
    The lower control arm into position using the jack
     
    The lower control arm-to-knuckle fasteners and hand tighten making sure the bolt heads face the rear of the vehicle. Tighten the bolts to 81 ft. lbs. (110 Nm).
     
    The lower control arm-to-support bolt to 81 ft. lbs. (110 Nm)
     
    The shock absorber lower bolt and tighten to 77 ft. lbs. (105 Nm)
     
    The jounce jumper nut to 46 ft. lbs. (63 Nm)
     
    The stabilizer bar link nut and tighten to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm)
     

  2.  
  3. When installing the trailing arm, push upward and install the front bolt, then use a drift to align the rear holes and install the bolts. Tighten the bolts to 81 ft. lbs. (110 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the wheel. Tighten the wheel lug nuts to 100 ft. lbs. (136 Nm).
  6.  

Upper Control Arm
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    The trailing arm bracket-to-underbody bolts
     
    The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) harness from the upper control arm, if equipped
     
    The upper control arm-to-knuckle fasteners
     
    The upper control arm-to-support frame retainers
     
    The upper control arm

  4.  

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:
    NOTE
    Make sure the bolt heads face the front of the vehicle.



    The upper control arm
     



    The upper control arm-to-knuckle fasteners and hand tighten
     
    The upper control arm-to-support frame nut
     

  2.  
  3. Tighten the control arm-to-knuckle bolts to 118 ft. lbs. (160 Nm)
  4.  
  5. Tighten the upper control arm-to-support bolt to 118 ft. lbs. (160 Nm)
  6.  
  7. Connect the ABS harness to the upper control arm, if equipped
  8.  
  9. When installing the trailing arm, push upward and install the front bolt, then use a drift to align the rear holes and install the bolts. Tighten the bolts to 81 ft. lbs. (110 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Align the vehicle.
