Wheel Speed Sensors

Removal & Installation



Front Wheel

Specific to:

Toyota Yaris 2007-2009

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove front wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 3 screws, 6 clips and 4 grommets and remove the front fender liner.
  6.  
  7. Remove the speed sensor clip from the body.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the speed sensor connector.
  10.  
  11. Remove the 3 clips.
  12.  
  13. Remove the bolt and separate the clamp from the body.
  14.  
  15. Remove the bolt and separate the clamp from the shock absorber.
  16.  
  17. Remove the bolt and remove the speed sensor from the steering knuckle.
    NOTE
    Keep the speed sensor tip and installation portion free of foreign matter. Remove the speed sensor without turning it from its original installation angle.

  19. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  20.  
  21. Observe and use the torque values in the illustration.

Rear Wheel

Specific to:

Toyota Yaris 2007-2009


NOTE
The rear wheel speed sensor is integrated with the wheel bearing and hub assembly and must be replaced as a unit.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove front wheel.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear drum assembly.
  6.  
  7. Using a screwdriver, remove the claw of the connector lock portion and disconnect the skid control sensor wire connector.
  8.  
  9. Remove the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to WHEEL BEARING AND HUB ASSEMBLY under REAR SUSPENSION.
  10.  
  11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
