Stabilizer Bar (Sway Bar) & Links

Removal & Installation



  1. Disconnect cable from negative battery terminal.
  2.  
  3. Remove hood sub-assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove front wiper motor and link.
  6.  
  7. Remove cowl to register duct sub-assembly (for hatchback).
  8.  
  9. Remove front air shutter seal (for sedan) .
  10.  
  11. Remove outer cowl top panel.
  12.  
  13. Position wheels facing straight ahead
  14.  
  15. Remove front wheel.
  16.  
  17. Remove steering column hole cover sub-assembly.
  18.  
  19. Separate front stabilizer link assembly LH and RH.
  20.  
  21. Separate tie rod end sub-assembly LH and RH.
  22.  
  23. Separate front lower suspension arm LH and RH.
  24.  
  25. Suspend engine assembly.
  26.  
  27. Remove the floor carpet and 2 clips and remove the column hole cover silencer.
  28.  
  29. Remove steering sliding yoke sub-assembly:
    1. Use a seat belt to fix the steering wheel assembly, in order to avoid breakage of the spiral cable.
    2.  
    3. Place the matchmarks on the sliding yoke of the steering intermediate shaft assembly and the power steering.
    4.  
    5. Loosen bolt A, remove bolt B and separate the steering intermediate shaft assembly.

  31. Remove clip A, separate clip B from the body and separate No. 1 steering column hole cover sub-assembly.

  33. Remove front wheel.

  35. Remove front stabilizer link assembly LH and RH.

  37. Remove tie rod end sub-assembly.
  38.  
  39. Remove front suspension lower arm RH and LH.
  40.  
  41. Suspend engine assembly.
  42.  
  43. Remove front suspension crossmember sub-assembly:
    1. Remove the bolt and separate the engine moving control rod.
    2.  
    3. Support the front suspension crossmember with a transmission jack.
    4.  
    5. Remove the 6 bolts and remove the suspension crossmember.
    6.

  45. Remove power steering gear.
  46.  
  47. Remove the 2 bolts and the stabilizer bracket.
  48.  
  49. Remove front stabilizer bar and bushing.
  50.  
  51. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  52.  
  53. Install the stabilizer onto the crossmember with the paint mark on the left side of the vehicle.
  54.  
  55. Inspect and adjust front wheel alignment.
