Specific to:

Toyota Yaris 2007-2010

  1. Remove front suspension support sub-assembly.
  2.  
  3. Remove front support to front shock absorber nut:
    1. Using a socket hexagon wrench 6, fix the shock absorber rod and loosen the nut.
    2.  
    3. Using SST 09727-30021, compress the coil spring.
      NOTE
      Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage SST.

    5. Remove the nut.
    6.

  5. Remove the upper coil spring seat with the strut mounting bearing and spring bumper from the shock absorber.
  6.  
  7. Remove the spring bumper from the upper coil spring seat.
  8.  
  9. Remove front upper coil spring insulator.
  10.  
  11. Remove front coil spring.
  12.  
  13. Using a brass bar and press, remove the strut mounting bearing from the upper coil spring seat.
  14.  
  15. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Removal & Installation



Specific to:

Toyota Yaris 2007-2010

  1. Disconnect cable from negative battery terminal.
  2.  
  3. Remove hood sub-assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove front wiper motor and link.
  6.  
  7. Remove cowl to register duct sub-assembly (for hatchback).
  8.  
  9. Remove front air shutter seal (for sedan) .
  10.  
  11. Remove outer cowl top panel.
  12.  
  13. Position wheels facing straight ahead
  14.  
  15. Remove front wheel.
  16.  
  17. Remove the nut and separate the stabilizer link from the shock absorber.
    NOTE
    If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a socket hexagon wrench 6 to hold the stud.

  19. Separate front flexible hose.
  20.  
  21. Remove front suspension support dust cover.
  22.  
  23. Remove front shock absorber with coil spring:
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and 2 bolts and separate the shock absorber with coil spring from the steering knuckle.
      NOTE
      Keep the bolt from rotating while loosening and removing the nuts.

    3. Using a socket hexagon wrench 6, fix the shock absorber rod and remove the nut.
    4.  
    5. Remove No. 2 suspension support .
    6.  
    7. Remove the front shock absorber with coil spring from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. Provisionally tighten a new nut through No. 2 suspension support.
  2.  
  3. Install the front shock absorber with coil spring onto the steering knuckle.
  4.  
  5. Install front flexible hose.
  6.  
  7. Install the stabilizer link with the nut.
  8.  
  9. Install front wheel.
  10.  
  11. Using a socket hexagon wrench 6, fix the shock absorber rod and tighten the nut.
  12.  
  13. To complete installation, reverse the remaining removal procedure.
  14.
