Removal & Installation




CAUTION
Some models covered by this manual may be equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS, as described in the Chassis Electrical Section.


NOTE
If the airbag connector is disconnected with the ignition switch at ON or ACC, DTC-s will be recorded.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the steering column.
  4.  
  5. Turn the ignition switch lock cylinder assembly to the ACC position.
  6.  
  7. Insert a screwdriver into the hole of the steering column upper with switch bracket assembly as shown in the illustration. Pull the ignition switch lock cylinder assembly until its claw contacts the stopper of the steering column upper with switch bracket assembly.
    NOTE
    Make sure to pull the ignition switch lock cylinder assembly until its claw contacts the stopper of the steering column upper with switch bracket assembly. Failure to do so will affect later work operations.

  9. Insert a screwdriver into the hole of the steering column upper with switch bracket assembly. Tilt the screwdriver as shown in the illustration to disengage the claw of the ignition switch lock cylinder assembly, and pull out the ignition switch lock cylinder assembly.
  10.  
  11. To install, reverse removal procedure.
