Removal & Installation



Wiper Motor
Hatchback

Specific to:

Toyota Yaris 2007-2010

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the claw and remove the 2 front wiper arm head caps.
  4.  
  5. Operate the wiper, then stop the windshield wiper motor in the automatic stop position. Remove the LH and RH nut and front wiper arm.
  6.  
  7. Disengage the 7 clips and remove the hood to cowl top seal.
  8.  
  9. Remove cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly:
    1. Disengage the 2 hooks and remove cowl top ventilator louver center No. 1.
    2.  
    3. Disconnect the washer hose.
    4.  
    5. Disengage the 11 claws and clip.
    6.  
    7. Disconnect the washer hose and remove the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly.
    8.

  11. Remove the LH cowl top ventilator louver:
    1. Remove the 2 clips.
    2.  
    3. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the cowl top ventilator louver LH.
    4.

  13. Remove front wiper motor and link:
    1. Remove the 2 bolts.
    2.  
    3. Slide the wiper link. Disengage the meshing of the rubber pin, then disconnect the connector and remove the front wiper motor and link.
    4.

  15. Remove front wiper motor:
    1. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the meshing of the rod at the crank arm pivot of the front wiper motor.
    2.  
    3. Remove the 3 bolts and the front wiper motor.

  17. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Refer to the illustration for torque values.

  19. Pay attention to the following:
    1. When installing the front wiper arm and blade assembly:

      Scrape any metal powder off the serrated part of the wiper arm with a round file or the equivalent (when reinstalling)
       
      Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush.
       
      Operate the wiper, then stop the windshield wiper motor in the automatic stop position.
       
      Align the blade tip with the mark on the windshield glass, as shown in the illustration.
       
      Tighten the nut of the front wiper arm to 19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm).

Sedan

Specific to:

Toyota Yaris 2007-2010

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the claw and remove the 2 front wiper arm head caps.
  4.  
  5. Operate the wiper, then stop the windshield wiper motor in the automatic stop position.
  6.  
  7. Remove the nut and front wiper arm.
  8.  
  9. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 3 claws and remove the LH and RH cowl side ventilator sub-assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly:
    1. Disengage the 3 clips, the 4 claws and the 8 hooks.
    2.  
    3. Remove the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly.
    4.  
    5. Disconnect the washer hoses.
    6.  
    7. Disengage the 5 hooks.
    8.

  13. Remove front wiper motor and link:
    1. Remove the 2 bolts.
    2.  
    3. Slide the wiper link. Disengage the meshing of the rubber pin, then disconnect the connector and remove the front wiper motor and link.
    4.

  15. Remove front wiper motor:
    1. Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the meshing of the rod at the crank arm pivot of the front wiper motor.
    2.  
    3. Remove the 3 bolts and the front wiper motor.

To install:

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Refer to the illustration for torque values.
  2.  
  3. Pay attention to the following:
    1. When installing the front wiper arm and blade assembly:

      Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush.
       
      Operate the wiper, then stop the windshield wiper motor in the automatic stop position.
       
      Align the blade tip with the mark on the windshield glass, as shown in the illustration.
       
      Tighten the nut of the front wiper arm to 19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm).
