Power Mirrors



Diagnosis & Testing
  1. Inspect outer mirror switch assembly
    1. Select L on the left/right adjustment switch: Measure the resistance of the switch.
      NOTE
      If the result is not as specified, replace the switch assembly.

    3. Select R on the left/right adjustment switch: Measure the resistance of the switch. Standard resistance: Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 3 (VR) - 8 (B) 6 (M+) - 7 (E) UP Below 1 - 3 (VR) - 7 (E) 6 (M+) - 8 (B) DOWN Below 1 - 2 (HR) - 8 (B) 6 (M+) - 7 (E) LEFT Below 1 - 2 (HR) - 7 (E) 6 (M+) - 8 (B) RIGHT Below 1 -
      NOTE
      If the result is not as specified, replace the switch assembly.

  3. Inspect outer rear view mirror assembly LH.
    1. Disconnect the mirror connector.
    2.  
    3. Apply battery voltage to the mirror and check the operation of the mirror.

    5. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3 (MV) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 4 (COM), then check that the mirror turns upward.
    6.  
    7. If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.
    8.  
    9. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 4 (COM) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 3 (MV), then check that the mirror turns downward. If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.
    10.  
    11. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 5 (MH) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 4 (COM), then check that the mirror turns left.
    12.  
    13. If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.
    14.  
    15. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 4 (COM) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 5 (MH) , then check that the mirror turns right.

    17. If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.

  5. Inspect outer rear view mirror assembly RH
    1. Disconnect the mirror connector.
    2.  
    3. Apply battery voltage to the mirror and check the operation of the mirror.

    5. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3 (MV) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 4 (COM), then check that the mirror turns upward.
    6.  
    7. If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.
    8.  
    9. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 4 (COM) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 3 (MV), then check that the mirror turns downward.
    10.  
    11. If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.
    12.  
    13. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 5 (MH) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 4 (COM), then check that the mirror turns left.
    14.  
    15. If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.
    16.  
    17. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 4 (COM) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 5 (MH), then check that the mirror turns right.

    19. If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror.

Removal & Installation
Mirror Motor
  1. Remove front door service hole cover by removing the following components:
    NOTE
    Refer to the procedure under Door Locks for more details.

    1. Remove the front door lower frame bracket garnish.
    2.  
    3. Remove the power window regulator master switch.
    4.  
    5. Remove the front door trim panel.
    6.  
    7. Remove the front door inside handle.
    8.  
    9. Remove the front door trim bracket.
    10.  
    11. Remove the front door service hole cover.
    12.

  3. Remove outer rear view mirror, as follows:
    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2.  
    3. Remove the 3 nuts and mirror.
    4.  
    5. Press and hold the mirror-s clip, and then remove the mirror.
    6.

  5. Remove outer mirror cover, as follows:
    1. Use a prytool to carefully disengage the 2 clips and 2 claws, and remove the mirror.
    2.  
    3. Use a prytool to disengage the 9 claws and remove the mirror cover.

To install:

  1. Install the outer rear view mirror assembly:
    1. Attach the mirror-s clip to the vehicle body.
    2.  
    3. Install the 3 nuts and tighten to 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
    4.  
    5. Attach the connector.
    6.
