Brake Pad/Shoe - Front Operation:

Pad: When the brakes are applied, the master cylinder, caliper and the caliper piston cause these replaceable friction pads to push against the rotor. Pads consist of an organic or semi-metallic material riveted or bonded to a backing plate or web.Shoe: Two crescent-shaped mounts with linings riveted or glued to them. When a vehicle is braking, the shoes are forced against the inside of the rotating brake drum to slow down or stop wheel rotation, by action of the wheel cylinder or plunger assembly.
