Rack and Pinion

Rack And Pinion Operation:

A steering system with a pinion gear on the end of the steering shaft that interlocks the teeth on the rack. When the steering wheel is turned, the pinion gear turns against the rack moving it to the left or right, which is transmitted through the tie rods to the steering arms at the wheels. This may be a manual or power assisted system.
