    Windshield Wiper Motor

    REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION



    Front Wiper Motor
    1990 MODELS
    1. Remove the wiper module assembly.
    2.  
    3. Using a 8mm socket, loosen the two crank arm socket screw and lockwashers until the socket releases from the crank arm ball.
    4.  
    5. Run the wipers to the park position.
    6.  
    7. Remove the three wiper motor retaining screws and remove the wiper motor from the frame.
    8.  

    To install:
    1. Make sure the wiper motor is in the park position.
    2.  
    3. Position the wiper motor to the frame and install the three wiper motor retaining screws.
    4.  
    5. Using an 8mm socket, tighten the two crank arm socket screw and lockwashers.
    6.  
    7. Install the wiper module assembly as outlined in this section.
    8.  

    1991-1999 MODELS

    Because of a new wiper motor bracket design, the wiper motor can be removed from the vehicle without removing the complete wiper module.

    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    2.  
    3. Disconnect the harness from the wiper motor.
    4.  
    5. Using a 8mm socket, loosen the two crank arm socket screw and lockwashers until the socket releases from the crank arm ball.
    6.  

    Do not remove the crank arm from the motor.

    1. Using a 10mm socket, remove the three motor retaining screws.
    2.  
    3. Slide the motor out of the slot in the bracket.
    4.

    To install:
    1. Make sure the wipers are in the park position.
    2.  
    3. Slide the motor into the slot in the bracket.
    4.  
    5. Using a 10mm socket, install the three motor retaining screws and tighten to 49-80 inch lbs. (5.5-9.0 Nm).
    6.  
    7. Using a 8mm socket, tighten the two crank arm socket screw and lockwashers.
    8.  
    9. Connect the harness to the wiper motor.
    10.  
    11. Connect the negative battery cable.
    12.  

    Rear Wiper Motor

    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    2.  
    3. Remove the rear wiper arm.
    4.  
    5. Remove the tailgate inner trim finish panel as outlined in General Information and Maintenance 0 .

    1. Detach the wiring harness connector from the wiper motor.
    2.  
    3. Remove the two motor retaining screws from the grommets and the retaining nut at the pivot and spacer on the tailgate.
    4.  
    5. Remove the motor from the vehicle.
    6.  
    7. Installation is the reverse of removal.
