  1. Disconnect and remove the negative battery.
    CAUTION
    After disconnecting the negative battery cable, wait 2 minutes for the driver-s/passenger-s air bag system capacitor to discharge before attempting to do any work around the steering column or instrument.

  2.  
  3. Drain the cooling system into a clean container for reuse.
  4.  
  5. Remove the instrument panel by performing the following procedure:
    1. Turn the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.
    2.  
    3. Remove the knee blocker from the instrument panel.
    4.  
    5. Remove the steering column; do not remove the air bag module, the steering wheel or switches from the steering column.
    6.  
    7. From under the driver-s side of the instrument panel, disconnect the following items:

      Instrument panel wiring harness connector from the 100-way wiring harness connector at the left side of the inner panel.
       
      Side window demister hose at the heater/air conditioning housing demister/defroster duct on the driver-s side.
       

    8.  
    9. Remove the glove box.
    10.  
    11. Reaching through the glove box opening, disconnect the following items:

      Two halves of the heater/air conditioning system vacuum harness connector.
       
      Instrument panel wiring harness connector from the heater/air conditioning system wiring harness connector.
       
      Instrument panel wiring harness connector from the passenger-s side air bag module wiring harness connector.
       
      Side window demister hose at the heater/air conditioning housing demister/defroster duct (passenger-s side).
       
      Two halves of the radio antenna coaxial cable connector.
       
      Two instrument panel wiring harness connectors from the passenger air bag ON/OFF switch wiring harness connector.
       
      Passenger-s side air bag ON/OFF switch wiring harness from the retainer clip on the plenum bracket that supports the heater/air conditioning housing just inboard of the fuse block module.
       
      Two lower passenger-s side air bag module bracket-to-dash panel nuts.

    13. Remove the upper cover from the instrument panel.
    14.  
    15. Remove the 3 instrument panel-to-door hinge pillar screws.
    16.  
    17. Remove the 4 upper instrument panel-to-dash nuts.
    18.  
    19. Using an assistant, remove the instrument panel from the vehicle.
    20.  

  6.  
  7. If equipped with air conditioning, discharge and recover the air conditioning system refrigerant.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the evaporator. Plug the refrigerant openings to prevent evaporation.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core tubes.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the heater/air conditioning system vacuum supply line connector from the T-fitting near the heater core tubes.
  14.  
  15. In the engine compartment, remove the 5 heater/air conditioning housing-to-chassis nuts. If necessary, loosen the battery hold-downs and reposition the battery for access.
  16.  
  17. Remove the cowl plenum drain tube from the heater/air conditioning housing stud; it-s located behind the cylinder head on the cowl.
  18.  
  19. From the bottom of the heater/air conditioning housing, remove the floor duct.
  20.  
  21. On the passenger side, remove the heater/air conditioning housing-to-plenum bracket screw.
  22.  
  23. Pull the heater/air conditioning housing down far enough to clear the defrost/demist and fresh air ducts, then, rearward far enough to clear the mounting studs and the evaporator drain tube to clear the dash panel holes.
  24.  
  25. Remove the heater/air conditioning housing assembly from the vehicle.
  26.  
  27. Remove the heater/air conditioning housing upper case.
  28.  
  29. Lift the heater core from the lower half of the heater/air conditioning housing.

To install:

  1. Assemble the heater core into the lower half of the heater/air conditioning housing.
  2.  
  3. Install the heater/air conditioning housing upper case.
  4.  
  5. Install the heater/air conditioning housing assembly to the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. On the passenger-s side, install the heater/air conditioning housing-to-plenum bracket screw.
  8.  
  9. At the bottom of the heater/air conditioning housing, install the floor duct.
  10.  
  11. Install the cowl plenum drain tube to the heater/air conditioning housing stud; it-s located behind the cylinder head on the cowl.
  12.  
  13. In the engine compartment, install the 5 heater/air conditioning housing-to-chassis nuts.
  14.  
  15. Connect the heater/air conditioning system vacuum supply line connector to the T-fitting near the heater core tubes.
  16.  
  17. Connect the heater hoses to the heater core tubes.
  18.  
  19. Connect the refrigerant lines to the evaporator.
  20.  
  21. If equipped with air conditioning, evacuate and charge the air conditioning system refrigerant.
  22.  
  23. Install the instrument panel by performing the following procedure:
    1. Using an assistant, install the instrument panel to the vehicle.
    2.  
    3. Install the 4 upper instrument panel-to-dash nuts.
    4.  
    5. Install the 3 instrument panel-to-door hinge pillar screws.
    6.  
    7. Install the upper cover to the instrument panel.
    8.  
    9. Reaching through the glove box opening, connect the following items.

      Two lower passenger-s side air bag module bracket-to-dash panel nuts.
       
      Passenger-s side air bag ON/OFF switch wiring harness to the retainer clip on the plenum bracket that supports the heater/air conditioning housing just inboard of the fuse block module.
       
      Two instrument panel wiring harness connectors to the passenger air bag ON/OFF switch wiring harness connector.
       
      Two halves of the radio antenna coaxial cable connector.
       
      Side window demister hose at the heater/air conditioning housing demister/defroster duct (passenger-s side).
       
      Instrument panel wiring harness connector to the passenger-s side air bag module wiring harness connector.
       
      Instrument panel wiring harness connector to the heater/air conditioning system wiring harness connector.
       
      Two halves of the heater/air conditioning system vacuum harness connector.
       

    10.  
    11. Install the glove box.
    12.  
    13. Under the driver-s side of the instrument panel, connect the following items:

      Side window demister hose at the heater/air conditioning housing demister/defroster duct on the driver-s side.
       
      Instrument panel wiring harness connector to the 100-way wiring harness connector at the left side of the inner panel.

    15. Install the steering column.
    16.  
    17. Install the knee blocker to the instrument panel.
    18.

  25. Connect and remove the negative battery.
  26.  
  27. Refill the cooling system.
  28.  
  29. Run the engine to normal operating temperatures; then, check the climate control operation and check for leaks.
  30.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, please familiarize yourself with safety procedures.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect and remove the negative battery.
    CAUTION
    After disconnecting the negative battery cable, wait 2 minutes for the driver-s/passenger-s air bag system capacitor to discharge before attempting to do any work around the steering column or instrument.

  4.  
  5. Drain the cooling system into a clean container for reuse.
  6.  
  7. Remove the instrument panel by performing the following procedure:
    1. Turn the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.
    2.  
    3. Remove the A-pillar trim from both sides of the vehicle.
    4.  
    5. Remove the top cover from the instrument panel.
    6.  
    7. Near the windshield line, remove the 4 instrument panel-to-chassis nuts.
    8.  
    9. Remove the scuff plates from both front door sills.
    10.  
    11. Remove the trim panels from both sides of the inner cowl.
    12.  
    13. Remove the floor console.
    14.  
    15. Remove the fuse cover from the junction box.
    16.  
    17. Remove the instrument panel cluster bezel.
    18.  
    19. Remove the steering column opening cover from the instrument panel.
    20.  
    21. Remove the steering column bracket from the instrument panel column support bracket.
    22.  
    23. Remove the lower steering column shroud cover-to-multifunction switch screw; then, unsnap both halves of the shroud cover from the steering column.
    24.  
    25. Disconnect the instrument panel wiring harness connectors from the following steering column components:

      Both lower clock spring connector receptacles
       
      Left multifunction switch receptacle
       
      Right multifunction switch receptacle
       
      Both ignition switch receptacles
       
      Shifter interlock solenoid receptacle
       
      Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) receptacle, if equipped
       

    26.  
    27. Turn the ignition switch to ON position; then, release and remove the shifter interlock cable connector from the ignition lock housing receptacle.
    28.  
    29. Turn the ignition switch to OFF position; this will prevent the steering wheel from turning and the loss of the clock spring centering following steering column removal.
    30.  
    31. Remove the 4 steering column-to-instrument panel steering column bracket nuts.
    32.  
    33. Remove the steering column from the instrument panel.
    34.  
    35. Disconnect both side body wiring harness bulkhead connectors, the Ignition Off Draw (IOD) wiring harness connector and the fused wiring harness connector from the junction block connector receptacles.
    36.  
    37. Disconnect the instrument panel wiring harness-to-floor console component connectors:

      Air bag control module connector receptacle
       
      Parking brake switch terminal
       
      Transmission shifter connector receptacle
       

    38.  
    39. Remove the 2 instrument panel wiring harness-to-floor console ground terminals located behind the air bag control module.
    40.  
    41. Disconnect the instrument panel wiring harness-to-floor console retainers.
    42.  
    43. Remove the instrument panel-to-floor console bracket screws and the bracket.
    44.  
    45. Remove the driver-s side floor duct-to-heater/air conditioning housing assembly screw and remove the duct.
    46.  
    47. If equipped with a manual heating-air conditioning system, disconnect the vacuum harness connector from behind the driver-s side floor duct.
    48.  
    49. Remove the instrument panel steering column support bracket-to-driver-s side of the heater/air conditioning housing assembly screw
    50.  
    51. Remove the instrument panel steering column support bracket-to-intermediate bracket screw.
    52.  
    53. Remove the instrument panel steering column support bracket-to-driver-s side cowl plenum panel nut.
    54.  
    55. Remove the 2 instrument panel-to-driver-s side cowl side inner panel screws.
    56.  
    57. Remove the instrument panel end cap.
    58.  
    59. Remove the lower right center bezel from the instrument panel.
    60.  
    61. At the passenger-s side cowl side inner panel, disconnect the instrument panel wiring harness bulkhead connector from the lower cavity of the inline connector.
    62.  
    63. Near the right side cowl inner panel, located under the end of the instrument panel, disconnect both halves of the radio antenna coaxial cable connector.
    64.  
    65. Disconnect the 2 instrument panel-to-heater/air conditioning assembly wiring harness connectors.
    66.  
    67. At the passenger-s side, remove the 2 instrument panel structural duct-to-heater/air conditioning housing assembly screws.
    68.  
    69. At the passenger-s side cowl side inner panel, remove the 2 instrument panel-to-passenger-s side cowl side inner panel screws.
    70.  
    71. With the help of an assistant, lift the instrument panel from the vehicle.
    72.  

  8.  
  9. Discharge and recover the air conditioning system refrigerant.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the air conditioning system lines at the evaporator. Plug the openings to prevent contamination.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core. Plug the openings to prevent coolant loss.
  14.  
  15. If equipped with a manual temperature control system, unplug the heater/air conditioning system vacuum supply line connector from the T-fitting located near the heater core tubes.
  16.  
  17. From the passenger-s side inner fender shield, remove the coolant reservoir/overflow bottle.
  18.  
  19. From the passenger-s side in the engine compartment dash panel, remove the PCM; DO NOT unplug it, just move it aside.
  20.  
  21. In the engine compartment, remove the heater/air conditioning housing-to-chassis nuts.
  22.  
  23. At the center of the dashboard, remove the rear floor ducts from the floor heat duct outlets.
  24.  
  25. Disconnect the heater/air conditioning housing wire harness connectors.
  26.  
  27. In the passenger compartment, remove the heater/air conditioning housing-to-chassis nuts.
  28.  
  29. Place covers inside the vehicle to catch any spilt coolant.
  30.  
  31. Remove the heater/air conditioning housing assembly from the vehicle.
  32.  
  33. Remove the foam gasket from around the heater core tubes.
    NOTE
    Note the position of the irregular shaped gasket so that it may be reinstalled in its correct position.

  34.  
  35. Remove the heater core retainers and screws.
  36.  
  37. If necessary, remove the mode door actuator for clearance to remove the core.
  38.  
  39. Remove the heater core from the heater/air conditioning housing assembly.

To install:

  1. Install the heater core tom the heater/air conditioning housing assembly.
  2.  
  3. If removed, install the mode door actuator.
  4.  
  5. Install the heater core retainers and screws.
  6.  
  7. Install the foam gasket around the heater core tubes.
  8.  
  9. Install the heater/air conditioning housing assembly to the vehicle.
  10.  
  11. In the passenger compartment, install the heater/air conditioning housing-to-chassis nuts.
  12.  
  13. Connect the heater/air conditioning housing wire harness connectors.
  14.  
  15. At the center of the dashboard, install the rear floor ducts to the floor heat duct outlets.
  16.  
  17. In the engine compartment, install the heater/air conditioning housing-to-chassis nuts.
  18.  
  19. At the passenger-s side in the engine compartment dash panel, install the PCM.
  20.  
  21. At the passenger-s side inner fender shield, install the coolant reservoir/overflow bottle.
  22.  
  23. If equipped with a manual temperature control system, plug the heater/air conditioning system vacuum supply line connector to the T-fitting located near the heater core tubes.
  24.  
  25. Connect the heater hoses to the heater core.
  26.  
  27. Connect the air conditioning system lines to the evaporator.
  28.  
  29. Evacuate and charge the air conditioning system refrigerant.
  30.  
  31. Remove the instrument panel by performing the following procedure:
    1. Turn the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.
    2.  
    3. Install the A-pillar trim to both sides of the vehicle.
    4.  
    5. Install the top cover to the instrument panel.
    6.  
    7. Near the windshield line, install the 4 instrument panel-to-chassis nuts.
    8.  
    9. Install the scuff plates to both front door sills.
    10.  
    11. Install the trim panels to both sides of the inner cowl.
    12.  
    13. Install the floor console.
    14.  
    15. Install the fuse cover to the junction box.
    16.  
    17. Install the instrument panel cluster bezel.
    18.  
    19. Install the steering column opening cover to the instrument panel.
    20.  
    21. Install the steering column bracket to the instrument panel column support bracket.
    22.  
    23. Install the lower steering column shroud cover-to-multifunction switch screw; then, snap both halves of the shroud cover to the steering column.
    24.  
    25. Connect the instrument panel wiring harness connectors to the following steering column components:

      Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) receptacle, if equipped
       
      Shifter interlock solenoid receptacle
       
      Both ignition switch receptacles
       
      Right multifunction switch receptacle
       
      Left multifunction switch receptacle
       
      Both lower clock spring connector receptacles
       

    26.  
    27. Turn the ignition switch to ON position; then, release and install the shifter interlock cable connector to the ignition lock housing receptacle.
    28.  
    29. Install the 4 steering column-to-instrument panel steering column bracket nuts.
    30.  
    31. Install the steering column to the instrument panel.
    32.  
    33. Connect both side body wiring harness bulkhead connectors, the Ignition Off Draw (IOD) wiring harness connector and the fused wiring harness connector to the junction block connector receptacles.
    34.  
    35. Disconnect the instrument panel wiring harness-to-floor console component connectors:

      Transmission shifter connector receptacle
       
      Parking brake switch terminal
       
      Air bag control module connector receptacle
       

    36.  
    37. Install the 2 instrument panel wiring harness-to-floor console ground terminals located behind the air bag control module.
    38.  
    39. Connect the instrument panel wiring harness-to-floor console retainers.
    40.  
    41. Install the instrument panel-to-floor console bracket and the screws.
    42.  
    43. Install the driver-s side floor duct and the duct-to-heater/air conditioning housing assembly screw.
    44.  
    45. If equipped with a manual heating-air conditioning system, connect the vacuum harness connector behind the driver-s side floor duct.
    46.  
    47. Install the instrument panel steering column support bracket-to-driver-s side of the heater/air conditioning housing assembly screw.
    48.  
    49. Install the instrument panel steering column support bracket-to-intermediate bracket screw.
    50.  
    51. Install the instrument panel steering column support bracket-to-driver-s side cowl plenum panel nut.
    52.  
    53. Install the 2 instrument panel-to-driver-s side cowl side inner panel screws.
    54.  
    55. Install the instrument panel end cap.
    56.  
    57. Install the lower right center bezel to the instrument panel.
    58.  
    59. At the passenger-s side cowl side inner panel, connect the instrument panel wiring harness bulkhead connector to the lower cavity of the inline connector.
    60.  
    61. Near the right cowl side inner panel located under the end of the instrument panel, connect both halves of the radio antenna coaxial cable connector.
    62.  
    63. Connect the 2 instrument panel-to-heater/air conditioning assembly wiring harness connectors.
    64.  
    65. At the passenger-s side, install the 2 instrument panel structural duct-to-heater/air conditioning housing assembly screws.
    66.  
    67. At the passenger-s side cowl side inner panel, install the 2 instrument panel-to-passenger-s side cowl side inner panel screws.
    68.  
    69. With the help of an assistant, lift the instrument panel into the vehicle.
    70.

  33. Refill the cooling system.
  34.  
  35. Connect the negative battery.
  36.  
  37. Run the engine to normal operating temperatures. Check the climate control operation and check for leaks.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, please familiarize yourself with safety procedures.
    CAUTION
    On vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment and possible personal injury or death.

  3. Drain the engine cooling system.
  4.  
  5. If required, disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core tubes in the engine compartment.
  6.  
  7. Remove the bolts and remove the driver-s side hush panel.
  8.  
  9. Using a trim stick, separate the upper clips and rotate the cover down and release the lower hinges at the bottom and remove the opening cover.
    CAUTION
    Before servicing the steering Column the airbag system must be disarmed. Failure to do so may result in accidental deployment of the airbag and possible personal injury.

  10.  
  11. Remove the three bolts in the lower shroud.
    NOTE
    Use care not to break off the tangs on the shrouds.

  12.  
  13. Then unsnap the lower shroud from the upper shroud.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect the steering column electrical connectors.
  16.  
  17. Remove the pinch bolt.
  18.  
  19. Remove the column support bolts.
  20.  
  21. Remove the column cross bolt and slide the column downward off the bracket and remove the steering column.
  22.  
  23. Remove the nuts attaching the instrument panel to the pedal support bracket.
  24.  
  25. Using a trim stick, remove the ignition cylinder bezel.
  26.  
  27. Remove the screws and remove the ignition cylinder
  28.  
  29. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  30.  
  31. Using a trim stick, remove the left side cover.
  32.  
  33. Remove the left side door sill trim.
  34.  
  35. Remove the driver-s side cowl trim panel.
  36.  
  37. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  38.  
  39. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  40.  
  41. Remove the bolts and disconnect the ground wires within the steering column opening to the left of the steering column.
  42.  
  43. Disconnect the white adjustable pedal electrical connector.
  44.  
  45. Remove the bolts and remove the left a-pillar trim.
  46.  
  47. Remove the two left side bolts and one screw at the a-pillar support.
  48.  
  49. Using a trim stick, remove the shifter bezel ring.
  50.  
  51. Using a trim stick, remove the shifter bezel.
  52.  
  53. Remove the center console back cover and disconnect the electrical connector.
  54.  
  55. Remove the screws and remove the console.
  56.  
  57. Disconnect the electrical connectors under the console.
  58.  
  59. Open the glove box and push the stop tabs down to drop the glove box out of the instrument panel.
  60.  
  61. Rotate the box down and release the door hinges at the bottom and remove the glove box.
  62.  
  63. Remove the passenger side hush panel.
  64.  
  65. Remove the right side door sill trim.
  66.  
  67. Remove the nut, separate the right cowl trim panel and remove.
  68.  
  69. Remove the right side end cap.
  70.  
  71. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  72.  
  73. Remove the bolts and remove the right a-pillar trim panel.
  74.  
  75. Remove the two right side bolts and one screw at the a-pillar support.
  76.  
  77. Using a trim stick, remove the defroster grills.
  78.  
  79. Remove the two fence line nuts.
  80.  
  81. Using a trim stick, remove the radio bezel.
  82.  
  83. Using a trim stick, remove the center bezel and disconnect the electrical connectors.
  84.  
  85. Remove the nut from the HVAC support stud behind the center bezel.
  86.  
  87. Remove the screw to the HVAC from under the glove box opening.
  88.  
  89. Remove the HVAC bracket bolt from the glove box opening.
  90.  
  91. Remove the left and right center support brackets.
  92.  
  93. Remove the center floor duct.
  94.  
  95. Remove the radio.
  96.  
  97. Remove the two HVAC bolts from the radio opening.
  98.  
  99. Remove the instrument panel assembly.
  100.  
  101. Remove the five screws that secure the heater core and tube cover to the HVAC housing.
  102.  
  103. Remove the heater core and tube cover from the HVAC housing.

  105. If equipped with dual zone heating-A/C, remove the blend door actuator from the passenger side of the HVAC air distribution housing.
  106.  
  107. Remove the screw that secure the heater core tubes and retaining bracket to the HVAC housing.
    NOTE
    Take proper precautions to protect the carpeting from engine coolant. Have absorbent toweling readily available to clean up any spills.

  109. Remove the bolt that secures the heater tubes to the heater core.
  110.  
  111. Disconnect the heater core tubes from the heater core and remove and discard the O-ring seals.
  112.  
  113. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened heater core ports.
  114.  
  115. Carefully pull the heater core out of the HVAC air distribution housing.
  116.  
  117. If required, remove the heater core tubes from the vehicle.
  118.  

To install:

  1. Carefully install the heater core into the passenger-s side of the HVAC air distribution housing.
  2.  
  3. Remove the tape or plugs from the heater core ports.
  4.  
  5. If removed, position the heater core tubes into the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Lubricate new rubber O-ring seals with clean engine coolant and install them onto the heater core tubes. Use only the specified O-ring as they are made of a special material for the engine cooling system.
  8.  
  9. Connect the heater core tubes to the heater core.
  10.  
  11. Install the bolt that secures the heater core tubes to the heater core. Tighten the bolt securely.
  12.  
  13. Install the screw that secures the heater core tube retaining bracket to the HVAC housing. Tighten the screw to 20 inch lbs. (2.2 Nm).
  14.  
  15. If equipped with dual zone heating-A/C, install the blend door actuator onto the passenger side of the HVAC air distribution housing.
  16.  
  17. Install the heater core and tube cover onto the HVAC housing.
  18.  
  19. Install the five screws that secure the heater core and tube cover to the HVAC housing. Tighten the screws to 20 inch lbs. (2.2 Nm).
  20.  
  21. Before proceeding with installation of the instrument panel assembly, remove the load clips from each a-pillar and install onto the sides of the panel using the screw.
  22.  
  23. Place the instrument panel into the vehicle and position onto the a-pillars using the load clips.
  24.  
  25. Install the two bolts on the right side and tighten the bolts to 95 inch lbs. (11 Nm).
  26.  
  27. Install the two fence line nuts.
  28.  
  29. Guide the peddle support studs on the driver-s side, into the slots in the instrument panel reinforcement.
  30.  
  31. Position the center stack brackets in front of the duct work.
  32.  
  33. Rotate the instrument panel back and guide the HVAC stud.

  35. Continue to rotate the instrument panel back and guide the tube brackets located in the radio opening, into the HVAC.

  37. Install the screw at the bottom of the column opening next to the center stack up from the bottom attaching the HVAC.

  39. Install the bolt at the HVAC blower motor housing.
  40.  
  41. Install the screw at the bottom of the glove box opening to the blower motor housing support

  43. Snap the lower glove box hinges over the pivots and rotate up.
  44.  
  45. Push the stop tabs down and close the glove box.
  46.  
  47. Connect the right side wiring.
  48.  
  49. Install the right hush panel trim.
  50.  
  51. Install the right cowl trim and position the door seal back.
  52.  
  53. Position the right side door sill trim and seat fully.
  54.  
  55. Install the right a-pillar trim, the bolts and position the door seal back.
  56.  
  57. Install the two bolts on the left side and tighten to 95 inch lbs. (11 Nm).
  58.  
  59. Position the right side end cap and seat fully.
  60.  
  61. Install the two nuts on the studs above the column tighten the nuts to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  62.  
  63. Connect the two left bulk connectors.
  64.  
  65. Connect the two fuse block connectors.
  66.  
  67. Connect the white connector to adjustable brake pedal.
  68.  
  69. Install the grounds within the steering column opening and install the bolts.
  70.  
  71. Install the left cowl trim panel and install the nut
  72.  
  73. Install the left door sill.
  74.  
  75. Install the column cross bolt and tighten to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  76.  
  77. Position the steering column shaft into the slip joint.
  78.  
  79. Lift the column into position and install the bolts.
  80.  
  81. Tighten the bolts to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  82.  
  83. Slide the coupler onto the column shaft and install a new coupler bolt. Tighten the coupler bolt to 36 ft. lbs. (49 Nm).
  84.  
  85. Connect the shifter cable and electrical connectors to the ignition.
  86.  
  87. Install the ignition cylinder and install the screws.
  88.  
  89. Position the ignition bezel and seat fully.
  90.  
  91. Connect the electrical connector for the multifunction switch
  92.  
  93. Install the upper shroud on the column.
  94.  
  95. Install the lower shroud to the column.
  96.  
  97. Snap the two halves back into place.
  98.  
  99. Install the three mounting bolts to secure the shroud in place.
  100.  
  101. Snap the steering column opening cover lower hinges onto the pins and roll cover up.
  102.  
  103. Seat the upper retaining clips fully.
  104.  
  105. Install the hush panel.
  106.  
  107. Connect the column electrical connectors.
  108.  
  109. Install the column covers.
  110.  
  111. Install the left a-pillar trim, the bolts and position the door seal back.
  112.  
  113. Position the left side end cap and seat fully.
  114.  
  115. Install the center support nut onto the stud.
  116.  
  117. Install the two HVAC bolts within the radio opening.
  118.  
  119. Install the radio.
  120.  
  121. Install the radio bezel.
  122.  
  123. Install the left and right center support brackets and nuts and tighten to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
  124.  
  125. Position the center wire harness and connect the electrical connectors.
  126.  
  127. Install the center bezel.
  128.  
  129. Position the defroster vents and seat fully.
  130.  
  131. Connect the center harness electrical connectors (ground, module, shifter, brake lever).
  132.  
  133. Install the center floor duct.
  134.  
  135. Position the console into the vehicle and install the screws.
  136.  
  137. Connect the electrical connector and install the rear cover onto the console.
  138.  
  139. Position the shifter bezel and seat fully.
  140.  
  141. Position the shifter bezel trim ring and seat fully.
  142.  
  143. If disconnected, connect the heater hoses to the heater core tubes in the engine compartment.
  144.  
  145. Connect the negative battery cable.
  146.  
  147. If the heater core is being replaced, flush the cooling system.
  148.  
  149. Refill the engine cooling system.
